Is Honey Boy getting a major Oscar push from Amazon? If so, I might actually start predicting it here.

apparently they’re pushing it more than The Report because Marriage Story is stealing away Adam and Annette’s performance has no buzz.

As for both categories’ winners I think:

    Adapted: Irishman v Jojo Rabbit
    Original: Parasite v Marriage Story

I think these races are just as tight as the best picture race. The two categories (picture and screenplay) are very linked and the front runners in both are the same this year again. I wonder if they’ll spread the wealth like 2018 (picture/director to TSOW, acting to 3B, A. screenplay to CMBYN, O. screenplay to Get Out). Or go the more conventional route of awarding screenplay to the eventual best picture winner (2017, 2019).

It’s still too early to tell, but I am predicting the latter just because it is a more common occurrence.

Adapted goes to The Irishman, Original goes to Parasite. One of those is your best picture winner.

It’s really hard for me to see JOJO winning Screenplay–I think it’s too maudlin, too timid, and nowhere near as funny as it needs to be to score a win like that. I think its most obvious spiritual ancestor (especially Oscar-wise) is LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL, and it lost its Screenplay nod (despite 3 other wins). I think its relatively weak competition (as opposed to the Original category) is its best hope, but even then it’s hard to imagine. This is definitely no THE PRODUCERS. In fact, it’s hard for me to see the Waititi walking away with anything at the end of the day.

    Original: Marriage Story

    Adapted: JoJo Rabbit

I agree with adapted, which I suspect is the runaway favorite to win.
I’m not confident about Original, where I feel that MS has the edge. On the other hand it wouldn’t surprise me if OUATIH wins. That solid support hasn’t gone away.

I don’t see The Irishman winning Best Picture because I’m not predicting it for the win in both Adapted and Director.

    Adapted – Jojo Rabbit
    Original – Marriage Story
    Director – Bong Joon-ho

Best Picture is then between Jojo and Parasite for me..

Idk about its campaign but I’ve definitely seen a lot of buzz from Oscar voters for this movie. I think it could definitely break in somewhere.

I think Parasite wins Director and that Irishman is the prohibitive favorite to win BP

I think so. McCarten has a good record for having his screenplays nominated and with Meirelles at the helm it’s getting in.

I think the Academy will pull a Whiplash/Moonlight on Two Popes. It will probably go back to Adapted.

That makes sense. The Report’s buzz is dead in the water, while Honey Boy is starting to gain a lot of buzz after it’s strong debut and great reviews. I’m putting it in my Original Screenplay predictions. Every year there’s always at least one small indie hit (Moontise Kingdom, Nightcrawler, 20th Century Women, The Lobster, The Big Short, First Reformed, etc…) that gets nominated there, and I think Honey Boy will be that film this year. Besides, if we’re going to have Academy-Award nominee Jennifer Lopez this year, might as well have Academy-Award nominee Shia Lebouf as well.

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay
