So who does everyone think has the best shot at becoming the next two time Oscar winner ? Cate Blanchett and Christoph Waltz were the last two to join the club ( im pretty sure ).. who do you think has the best chance at being the newest members of the two time winner club.

ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2017 at 12:17 pm #1202077926Octavia Spencer is a brilliant actress who’s turned in some great, great roles since The Help. I know people are salty about her being the only one getting a nom from Hidden Figures but she turned in a pretty subtle, beautiful performance. I think there were better performances that weren’t nominated, but I don’t particularly begrudge her inclusion either. Her work in Fruitvale Station was Oscar win-worthy. Her and Tilda Swinton in Snowpiercer were both nom-worthy. That reminds me: I’d add Tilda Swinton NEEDS a second Oscar like, now.

Jennifer LawrenceJudi Dench and Viola Davis need second Oscars and then thirds (I’m predicting Viola to be the first black actor to win 3, but if Denzel gets there first that’s awesome too) to cement their legendary status.

April 27, 2017 at 12:57 pm #1202077980I can see Winslet winning a 2nd next year as long as “Wonder Wheel” is not critically panned.
From the male actors, I think that either Christian Bale or Leonardo DiCaprio will be the next two-time Oscar winners.
ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2017 at 4:18 pm #1202078176DiCaprio isn’t wining a second acting Oscar. He’s a strainer who won because he had no competition in the category and Leo overdue fever took over the season.

Oh God, the reality is that she’s most likely going to, but if there’s a God, he will block Lawrence from ever winning again.

He has 40 more years before probable retirement so it’s likely he will. Nicholson won 2 more after his first which was around DiCaprio’s age at the time. I know I’m comparing Nicholson and DiCaprio here, but they’ve always felt similar to me.
ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2017 at 4:33 pm #1202078207I’ll compromise with you Jason Face and say Leo has another competitive win in him for producing a Best Picture winner. He could get a Hersholt for his environmental work.
ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2017 at 4:35 pm #1202078210Dear God,
Bless Kathy Bates with 2nd Oscar. Let her join the company of Helen Hayes, Maggie Smith, Jessica Lange — those with two wins for Lead and Supporting. Streep, Bergman, and eventually Blanchett are three or more winners.
ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2017 at 4:35 pm #1202078211I see Leo either winning for best documentary for something to do with the environment or a supporting actor one. Wouldn’t be surprised if he got another Oscar within the next 10 years. Doubt he has to wait 22-23 years again.
