As voting gets underway , i thought i might just as well start another one of these
The first one from the Los Angeles Times
Notes: overwhelming amount of votes for Anthony Hopkins, with one even calling Boseman´s performance terribleApril 12, 2021 at 8:29 am #1204195552
But nah it just means that there’s a certain demographic in the Academy that has a connection with LA Times.April 12, 2021 at 8:31 am #1204195559
However, this is Yuh-Jung Youn’s. Her performance as that grandmother was surprising, fun and heartbreaking. It knocked me off my feet and was a big part of the reason I loved “Minari” so much.
Right when I was watching it, I thought Yuh-Jung Youn is going to be my supporting actress choice. She was just so good.
I love “Minari.” Maybe I’ll change my mind and vote for it for best picture! Anyway, Yuh-Jung Youn is so good in that movie, funny and warm and wise. She’s the grandmother I aspire to be someday!
FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")April 12, 2021 at 8:35 am #1204195563
Anonymous ballots were so fun to follow last year so I have high hopes. Please compile everything you can find guys 🧞♂️thxApril 12, 2021 at 8:35 am #1204195565
If they give Anthony the Oscar I’m going to be really glad about the ratings being absolutely terrible no one cares about awards anymore for a reason darlings it’s karma for awarding that old white saggy man over the dead black man 🤡April 12, 2021 at 8:39 am #1204195573
Boseman was superior and will win.April 12, 2021 at 8:42 am #1204195575
Boseman has too much sentimentality for him to lose. I just don’t see it happening.April 12, 2021 at 8:54 am #1204195599
The way not even these ballots are giving us clarity on Best Actress. The mess…April 12, 2021 at 8:55 am #1204195601
We will have 6 secret ballots at Gold Derby but do not publish until voting is over (as all media should do). Very interesting choices throughout (but I don’t see Hopkins as a threat just based on our 6).April 12, 2021 at 8:55 am #1204195603

LOL this is a joke right? Oscar ratings will be awful no matter who wins (but it’s going to be Boseman so what are you gonna say about the worst ratings ever then?) and they dropped when Black Pather and Joker were nominated so even popular movies couldn’t save that sinking ship. This year, nobody cared about nominated movies, actors, etc. It’s hilarious when PYW stans bring up PYWs’ “boxoffice” which sits at paltry 6.1M and even other paltforms weren’t exactly The Queen’s Gambit level of success, not even 1/16 of it.
The writing is on the wall. Globes, SAG likely BAFTAs too crashed in ratings no matter who won. Diversitywinners aren’t imporving the ratings which continue to nose dive. White winners aren’t improving the ratings which continue to fall like a rock. Popular movies see a dip in ratings. Billie Eilish sees a dip in ratings. It’s over. People don’t care. Young people don’t validate their taste through critics and awards. They’ll never fill the spots vacated by dying old viewers.April 12, 2021 at 8:55 am #1204195605
“Anthony Hopkins was so good in “The Father.” I was completely devastated by that one. As someone who has parents getting older, that one really affected me. It’s a good category, though I thought Chadwick Boseman was terrible in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” I didn’t understand that one. The movie was too theatrical and too over-the-top in a way that just wasn’t landing.”
Nothing but the absolute truth. Not a single lie was detected.April 12, 2021 at 9:07 am #1204195658

1.Anthony on my big 3 performance among Bosseman and Oldman..but i got many critic about Hopkins performance…for me he just doin insomnia rather than alzhaimer
Bosseman still on the top its one last change for him…. just like Heath Ledger joker in 2008
2.for me best actress race this year for Kate Winslet..but too bad for her film just mediocre and boring….thats why this Category very confusing….my safety save after Winslet is Carey Mulligan although her drunk acting is not good for me an her film overrated just because #womaninfilm….Mcdorman = overacting , Viola Davis = couldn’t handle heavy dialog, Vanessa Kirby = just same acting from start to the end, Andra day = new girl overhype
3.Nomadland = oh please so so film of the year….Cloe great doing campaign woman in filmApril 12, 2021 at 9:24 am #1204195714

I’ve see a lot of people saying this about Hopkins in The Father. I wouldn’t underestimate that, especially after a pandemic year where the elderly suffered.
