As voting gets underway , i thought i might just as well start another one of these
The first one from the Los Angeles Times
Notes: overwhelming amount of votes for Anthony Hopkins, with one even calling Boseman´s performance terrible

But nah it just means that there’s a certain demographic in the Academy that has a connection with LA Times.
ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2021 at 8:31 am #1204195559However, this is Yuh-Jung Youn’s. Her performance as that grandmother was surprising, fun and heartbreaking. It knocked me off my feet and was a big part of the reason I loved “Minari” so much.
Right when I was watching it, I thought Yuh-Jung Youn is going to be my supporting actress choice. She was just so good.
I love “Minari.” Maybe I’ll change my mind and vote for it for best picture! Anyway, Yuh-Jung Youn is so good in that movie, funny and warm and wise. She’s the grandmother I aspire to be someday!

ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2021 at 8:42 am #1204195575Boseman has too much sentimentality for him to lose. I just don’t see it happening.
ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2021 at 8:54 am #1204195599The way not even these ballots are giving us clarity on Best Actress. The mess…
ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2021 at 8:55 am #1204195601We will have 6 secret ballots at Gold Derby but do not publish until voting is over (as all media should do). Very interesting choices throughout (but I don’t see Hopkins as a threat just based on our 6).

LOL this is a joke right? Oscar ratings will be awful no matter who wins (but it’s going to be Boseman so what are you gonna say about the worst ratings ever then?) and they dropped when Black Pather and Joker were nominated so even popular movies couldn’t save that sinking ship. This year, nobody cared about nominated movies, actors, etc. It’s hilarious when PYW stans bring up PYWs’ “boxoffice” which sits at paltry 6.1M and even other paltforms weren’t exactly The Queen’s Gambit level of success, not even 1/16 of it.
The writing is on the wall. Globes, SAG likely BAFTAs too crashed in ratings no matter who won. Diversitywinners aren’t imporving the ratings which continue to nose dive. White winners aren’t improving the ratings which continue to fall like a rock. Popular movies see a dip in ratings. Billie Eilish sees a dip in ratings. It’s over. People don’t care. Young people don’t validate their taste through critics and awards. They’ll never fill the spots vacated by dying old viewers.

I’ve see a lot of people saying this about Hopkins in The Father. I wouldn’t underestimate that, especially after a pandemic year where the elderly suffered.
ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2021 at 9:26 am #1204195720All that I want to know is what they are voting for Live Action Short. I could not care less what they voted for Best Picture and Director.
