Some Judas and Minari love is always welcome. The fact he/she singled out the smoking and drinking for Andra when she has so many things to praise, way more impressive for a debut performance, is random af lolApril 21, 2021 at 8:27 am #1204212838
“…but do think it is a year where it’s about the films and not who you shakes hands with at parties. People are watching everything this time. That’s why there will be a sprinkling of choices this time and not anything sweeping.”
Not sure if this is particularly accurate, but this is an interesting quote.April 21, 2021 at 8:30 am #1204212846
The sympathy votes keep coming for Chadwick. Whether Hopkins wins or not. That performance will be in the history books as a Masterclass in acting.April 21, 2021 at 8:46 am #1204212864

His performance, whether he wins for it or not, will age beautifully and gracefully, unlike Chadwick’s horrifically overacted mess of a “performance” (if you can even call it that).April 21, 2021 at 9:09 am #1204212906
I’ve emerged from the red room to say two things:
1. Clayton has gotten many things wrong before. He said HFPA weren’t huge on PYW (look how that turned out) and was betting on Mank to miss Best Picture for months when there wasn’t any concrete evidence for doing so. His reports often contradict other reports that have shown to be more accurate, so I don’t think he’s the most reliable source in the world.
2. If these ballots are showing me anything at all, it’s that voters like most of the films nominated, but there’s just not a strong enough alternative to Nomadland… yet. There’s just a lot of fans of the other films and they’re ranked pretty high (the Minari voter has taste with Judas and PYW rounding out the top three)
Oscar winners Emerald Fennell Daniel Kaluuya and Youn Yuh-jung
