Darling, I absolutely love Simmons, but that performance is the furthest thing from ‘one of the best of the year’. It’s a pure filler and namecheck. It’s so unremarkable and forgettable, I always forgot that he was even nominated this year lol…

I do believe that certain interviews are chosen and published from more that are conducted that are perhaps more conventional in choices. Who knows. Penelope obviously has passion. I still think Jessica is the popular choice.

Its weird how Javier Bardem and J K Simmons went from giving two of the greatest Oscar winning performances to two of the most hated nominations ever.

So I watched two-thirds of Licorice Pizza when I was stupendously drunk off hot chocolate and rum in Athens one day and really couldn’t recall what it was about. These reports have kind of validated me. I’ve been meaning to finish it, but something is just blocking me from diving back in. It was BORING! I’m open to being disputed on this, given my state at the time. I was expecting that I’d love it.

While these ballots may not be coming from a majority of academy members, they have correctly forecasted potential upsets before. In 2018, it looked like Glenn Close was finally going to win her very first Oscar for The Wife. Academy members claimed in their anonymous ballots that she was a lock, but they still voted for Olivia Colman in The Favourite because she was their passion pick. Last year, it looked like Chadwick Boseman was winning a posthumous Oscar for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Academy members claimed that he was a lock, but they still voted for Anthony Hopkins in The Father because he was their passion pick. If the passion for Cruz is real, then it probably shouldn’t be underestimated.
