He definitely should have won for Jungle Fever. Spike Lee joints have historically and criminally been snubbed of deserved nominations and wins in many categories.

About SLJ and Oscars: 99% of his movies are Action Movies and Superheroes. I’m 100% sure Oscar voters thought he is way too much Commercial. Way too much Commercial like Sylvester Stallone and Harrison Ford

He stole every scene he was in. And stealing scenes from such accomplished and excellent actors like Wesley Snipes, Ossie Davis, and Ruby Dee is no small feat.

 

 

fun fact- Jungle Fever was also the feature debut of Halle Berry who played SLJ’s character’s girlfriend

He should have won for Pulp Fiction.

Anything else is a stretch to say he “deserved” to win, although I personally think he should have won for Jackie Brown in Supporting Actor.
