This narcissist is one of those actors that thinks that he should of won an Oscar for every performance that he gave. He gave a few good performances over the years, none of them worthy of an Oscar. He also seems like one of those actors that may be a bit mentally ill, which is why he is seldom cast in roles. Perhaps he’s difficult to work with. Mr. Jackson is his own antagonist.

SELDOM CAST?!!?!?!! You must be joking.
And he didn’t say nor intimate that he deserved an Oscar for “every” performance. He cited TWO examples for which he felt he was deserving

I met him once. I think he is workaholic. He is working 24/7. Go to his IMDb. He works a lot. Too much. He is like a Better Kevin Hart or The Rock. Probably that was bad for his Oscar dreams. Oscar voters prefer Daniel Day Lewis. Someone who is very selective like Leo or Joaquin Phoenix. Samuel L Jackson works all the time and almost every day
ReplyCopy URLMarch 2, 2022 at 9:34 pm #1204828612I agree that he should have won for Pulp Fiction, but that film was likely too edgy and controversial for many voters. Plus it was a very ballsy and in your face type of role and that was easy for older voters to deny, especially with Landau having an overdue narrative. I actually can’t say I wouldn’t have given him the award for Jungle Fever as well. He won Cannes but that film was not really on the Academy’s radar. His performance was a revelation and a genuine breakthrough, much stronger than the actual winner that year. Oddly enough, both years he mentioned were somewhat honorary awards for older white actors. Landau had been better in other roles and Palance should not have even been nominated for that film.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 3, 2022 at 12:26 am #1204828753He never held back his feelings. Watch the year he was nominated for Pulp Fiction. He says F@@K! when Martin Landau wins.
Landau was very good as Bela Lugosi and had come close twice in recent years. That’s the way it works. (and Jackson it could be argued was category frauding down to supporting.)
He was a total unknown with Jungle Fever. Probably wasn’t campaigned enough.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 3, 2022 at 1:19 am #1204828825He should have at LEAST been nominated for Jungle Fever.
He should have been nominated for Changing Lanes too.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 3, 2022 at 1:25 am #1204828833Jungle Fever, A Time to Kill, and Jackie Brown should have landed him noms at least.

He said “sh!t” not F***k.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 3, 2022 at 6:09 am #1204829077I feel like Samuel L. Jackson will eventually win. He’s not young, but he consistently works with the right people.

I still think Landau was still an excellent choice for ED WOOD but I would’ve been completely cool with Jackson taking it for PULP FICTION.

March 3, 2022 at 1:21 pm #1204829811Martin Landau fully earned his inspired Oscar win for “Ed Wood.” It was just a competitive year in supporting actor. SLJ probably could have won in another year for “Pulp Fiction.” That’s how things play out sometimes. And a big yes to whoever mentioned “Jackie Brown.” Jackson was just as Oscar-worthy as Forster.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 3, 2022 at 1:42 pm #1204829838Jungle Fever – deserved to win, robbed of a nom
Pulp Fiction – great, iconic performance but him losing to Landau was fair, and besides he was essentially a co-lead competing in supporting.
March 3, 2022 at 2:46 pm #1204830025Samuel L Jackson is right. The Academy is more about Oscar bait than movies that actually ENTERTAIN people and put asses in seats. Like GAGA this year.
All good..public support and consistent box office secure longevity in the business. 👌

This is kind of true. Oscars are not powerful. Biggest movie stars of All Time never won Oscars: Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Sylvester Stallone, The Rock, Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr.
