Get real! Thomasin McKenzie didn’t steal the show in Jojo Rabbit.

First of all, she was fantastic.

Second of all, how is Thomasin McKenzie in Jojo Rabbit a small role? She’s like the second biggest part of the movie.

EDIT: After taking another glance at the original post, I wouldn’t call any of those roles small (I haven’t seen The King though, and due to “meh” word of mouth, I probably won’t)

First of all I didn’t say otherwise. Second Scarlett stole the show as confirms her awards noms. Third the little boy outsold McKenzie.

That’s their opinion, award recognition doesn’t make it right or wrong.

Another good example I thought of was Mahershala Ali in Moonlight. He’s only in it for the first act, but his impression on Chiron is felt all throughout the film.

Its the kind of performance that makes you wish you got to see and learn more about his character. I love Moonlight and find it to be a fascinating story, but when I think about it, they could’ve made a whole movie about Chiron and Juan’s relationship in the first act.

Giving a shout to blockbusters among other things:

Sean Bean in Fellowship of the Ring

Miranda Otto in Two Towers and Return of the King

Adam Driver in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (his role is actually small in minutes – 19, 16 and 26 respectitely – and in comparison to other principal cast)

Margot Robbie in Wolf of Wall Street

Ian McDiarmid in Star Wars Prequel Trilogy and Return of the Jedi

Matt Damon cameo in Thor Ragnarok

Michael Rooker in GOTG Volume 2

Lucy Liu in Kill Bill Vol 1

Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill Vol 2

Vin Diesel (Groot) in GOTG Vol 1

Jack Davenport in Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest

    Ben Mendelsohn in Captain Marvel

    Nicole Kidman in Aquaman

pretty much every small role in Black Panther for Boseman was boredom incarnated

I always loved Cynthia Nixon’s small performance in AMADEUS….particularly when she goes to F. Murray Abraham and tells that she is “really frightened”.

I also loved the mention of Marlene Warfield from NETWORK. She left just as much, if not more, of an impression on me as Beatrice Straight.

I don’t know if I missed a mention of her but Betty Gabriel as Georgina in GET OUT is one of the smallest performances I can think of where I actually do wish she could’ve contended for an Oscar nom. Her big moment with the “No, no, no, no”’s could’ve come off as a disaster but it was delivered perfectly. It was both sad and creepy all at once.
