There are 92 countries which have submitted for consideration. There are 14 that interested me on the list. Since there is no way to actually see all 92 films there is no way to be objective. I want France’s entry, 120 Beats Per Minute, to prevail and win the Oscar this year.

14 interesting films that have been submitted:

Algeria: Road to Istanbul (Rachid Bouchareb)
    Austria: Happy End (Michael Haneke)
Cambodia: First They Killed My Father (Angelina Jolie)
Chile: A Fantastic Woman (Sabastian Lelio)
France: 120 Beats Per Minute (Robin Campillo)
Germany: In the Fade (Faith Akin)
    Israel: Foxtrot (Samuel Moaz)
    Italy: A Ciambra (Jonas Carpignano)
    Norway: Thelma (Joaquim Trier)
    Russia: Loveless (Andrey Zvyagintsev)
South Korea: A Taxi Driver (Jang Hoon)
    Spain: Summer 1993 (Carla Simon)
    Sweden: The Square (Ruben Ostlund)
Switzerland: The Divine Order (Petra Biondina Volpe)

Every year the committee messes up and leaves off films that should have made the 9 short-listed films and therefore the final 5 nominees. Hoping this year there won’t be any major egregious errors. I’m sure there are other films that pop out for others, these were just my 14 that I was most interested in…

I do recommend you add Tom of Finland as your fifteenth foreign language film to watch 🙂
