I prefer my roses whiteJanuary 22, 2023 at 9:42 am #1205257572A24 strikes again! I love their collaboration with Asian American/Asian voices and ‘Past Lives’ seems like another success. A likely breakthrough of Sundance this year. Terrific reviews. So happy for Greta Lee

I prefer my roses whiteJanuary 22, 2023 at 7:12 pm #1205258257I’m gonna need Magazine Dreams to be strong in other things before I get my hopes up for Jonathan Majors. I thought his work in Devotion last year was Oscar-worthy.

i haven’t really been able to take Thomasin seriously since her performance in ‘Old’, but I had hoped for good reviews for Eileen as I read the book years ago and it was so singular and twisted. From a quick Google the responses I’m seeing are largely positive?

Judging from twitter and letterboxd its polarizing. About her turn in Old, as bizzare as she (and everyone else) is, Shyamalan need to take some blame because the entire cast is awful (bar Scanlen and Sewell, arguably). You cant be good with that kind of acting direction, and I have seen much better performances from much of the cast.

I completely agree, but I found Thomasin’s performance especially laughable. The performances of her and Anne in Eileen at least seem to be encouraging.
