I did overlook Olivia Colman but she is now added. It takes about an hour or two for it to clear through the cache system and show up in the event.

Will the technical categories be added? Those are important too, it’s not all about the actors to make movies…

Also can you please add Another Round to Director and Editing for the Oscar center, the BAFTA longlist shows support.

Is that why she had 100/1 odds? I was wondering about that.

Also, does Animated Film really only have 3 spots? That seems like a bizarre choice.

This should be fun. I hope BAFTA proves me wrong but for now I am predicting them to still be racist.

I see someone from Calm with Horses making it. I would like it to be two people, but I only see the supporting actor category giving it any room for the film, so I have Barry making it. Same with lead actress. There are basically 4 spots guaranteed imo, which leaves the other two open. This allows someone like Clark to make it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it common for the BAFTAs to give some nods in acting to people in “smaller” british films? I put smaller in quotations because the films don’t necessarily have to be small, just not really a contender in any other award.

Under the jury system in pre pandemic times it’s quite common and almost annual that at least one or two performers from smaller British Indies get in. I fact it’s almost a guarantee.

In previous years we’ve seen Annette Bening, Viola Davis, Jessie Buckley, Jamie Bell amongst others make it in without gaining other traction and they were all in British Indies.

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

The blandest but probably likeliest choices here this year are Winslet and Ronan, I guess. There is a possibility, especially in expanding to 6, that films like St. Maud, His House, Calm With Horses or Rocks are represented, though. I think Rocks or St. Maud could surprised in Casting too. I also think Buckley might surprise in Actress here.

In terms of the occasional BAFTA-only picks that then show up at the Oscars (Manville, Pawlikowski), I think we might see Vinterberg, Mikkelsen and Strathairn get that treatment this year. I think BAFTA are going to go relatively big on Another Round and Nomadland, and they’ll sneak in at the Oscars, Vinterberg especially if Directors like Spike and Shaka King don’t gain traction.

Everyone get those 100/1 odds on Jennifer Ehle whilst you can.

Rocks and Saint Maud just won a bunch of London Film Critics Circle awards (with nominations across the board) including individual win for Morfydd Clark and Bukky Bakray and people still think they’re behind Kate Winslet and Amy Adams?

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

The way everyone’s waiting for for BAFTA to clear up whose the Oscar 5th (which explains the mess in the prediction centre) and it’ll just be one of four ladies from a British indie, or Buckley (again) or an ineligible Woodard.
