Why are there 6 nominees in director and acting but not screenplay or picture?

I seriously doubt Pfeiffer misses this year esp with 6 nominees.

It is worth looking at the voting criteria on the BAFTA site – for the acting and directing categories juries will be picking the nominees now – so expect at least one minority represented in each category as well as at least one female director. Also there will probably be lesser names getting in ahead of favorites.

My thoughts exactly. With 10 British Film nominees, the least they could do is open up Best Film by one at the very least, if not a full ten.

Screenplays I suppose doesn’t increase because there are already 10 nominees across screenwriting?

I think the added nominee slot is good news for Riz Ahmed, Sally Hawkins and Carey Mulligan. At least I hope so.

    FYC:

Antonio Banderas and Asier Etxeandia, Dolor y Gloria (Best Actor/Supporting Actor)
Emily Beecham, Little Joe (Best Actress)
Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren, The Good Liar (Best Actor/Actress)

Yeah great news for Ahmed. Not sure about Mulligan or Hawkins.

That Actress field is looking very competitive. I had Adams as a lock because of how she’s made it in previous years but now BAFTA have switched over to a jury system I don’t know.

I think only Kirby and Winslet are locks in that Actress race now lol.

FYC OSCARS : VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", GLENN CLOSE FOR "HILLBILLY ELEGY", ANTHONY HOPKINS FOR "THE FATHER", CHADWICK BOSEMAN FOR "MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM", PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY).

I think Carey Mulligan is much more likely to happen here than Anya Taylor Joy. Her ship has sailed a long time ago.

Jeremy Strong is not happening here. People who hace seen the film have said he isn’t even the MVP.

I think it’s safe to say they’re going for either Langella or Abdul-Mateen with Rylance.

I think he’s lead. Sacha Baron Cohen as well.
