Why are there 6 nominees in director and acting but not screenplay or picture?

My thoughts exactly. With 10 British Film nominees, the least they could do is open up Best Film by one at the very least, if not a full ten.

Screenplays I suppose doesn’t increase because there are already 10 nominees across screenwriting?

I think the added nominee slot is good news for Riz Ahmed, Sally Hawkins and Carey Mulligan. At least I hope so.

    FYC:

    Vitalina Varela, Vitalina Varela (Actress)
Andrea Riseborough, Karim Saleh, Possessor/Luxor (Actress, Actor)
Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage, I Care a Lot (Actress, Supporting Actor)
Jim Broadbent, Helen Mirren, The Duke (Actor, Supporting Actress)
Sophia Loren, Abril Zamora, The Life Ahead (Actress, Supporting Actress)
Carey Mulligan, Promising Young Woman (Actress)

Yeah great news for Ahmed. Not sure about Mulligan or Hawkins.

That Actress field is looking very competitive. I had Adams as a lock because of how she’s made it in previous years but now BAFTA have switched over to a jury system I don’t know.

I think only Kirby and Winslet are locks in that Actress race now lol.

FYC Emmys: "The Crown" in all categories, "I May Destroy You" in all categories, "It's a Sin" in all categories, "Small Axe" in all categories, Billie Piper ("I Hate Suzie"), Yvonne Strahovski ("Stateless") and Ruth Wilson ("His Dark Materials")

I think Carey Mulligan is much more likely to happen here than Anya Taylor Joy. Her ship has sailed a long time ago.

Jeremy Strong is not happening here. People who hace seen the film have said he isn’t even the MVP.

I think it’s safe to say they’re going for either Langella or Abdul-Mateen with Rylance.

Is Redmayne lead or supporting, I could see him getting in at bafta maybe

Also Louis Wain seems to be arriving in 2021 not 2020. It’s not on Amazon’s FYC page.

The acting and directing categories will be decided by jury, so maybe we will see randomness on the level of BAFTA TV awards.

Hoping for Sally Hawkins nom, she now has a path to appear here with the jury system.

I think Sally Hawkins is getting in but I don’t know who to take out. I had a feeling one of Davis would miss before the jury system was implemented but now I’m wondering if Amy might instead. She certainly will get into the voters’ longlist (as will Winslet, Davis, McDormand, Pfeiffer, Kirby, Loren, Buckley and Mulligan) because BAFTA love her but whether she gets into the shortlist of 6 who knows? Kirby I think is getting in and that’s not because I’m rooting for her but because jury systems help her (after all she won at the TV awards).

I think it’s fair to say that Ahmed could be likelier than Hanks here with a jury. Didn’t Hanks get snubbed last year anyway?

We ought to start predicting the longlists lol.

For actress I think the following will make the long list (It’s a longlist of 12 right?) :

    – Amy Adams
    – Jessie Buckley
    – Viola Davis
    – Sally Hawkins
    – Jennifer Hudson
    – Vanessa Kirby
    – Sophia Loren
    – Frances McDormand
    – Carey Mulligan
    – Michelle Pfeiffer
    – Anya Taylor-Joy
    – Kate Winslet

Expect more diversity though. The reason we’ve headed to the jury voting is because of how Margot Robbie got in twice into the same category last year.

    My bad.
