    That’s a good point so I agree.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that on the internet I’d be 5 cents richer.

    Academy-Award winners:

Parasite: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay

Joker: Best Actor - Joaquin Phoenix

    Jojo Rabbit: Best Adapted Screenplay

A few thoughts.. I really think you’re over predicting Promising Young Woman. An April release really wrecks it. An Indie Spirit/Gotham nom is much more likely. Boseman is not a lead in Da 5 Bloods (from what I’ve heard). Christopher Nolan and Wes Anderson’s films are spectacular but acting noms haven’t happened before and I don’t think they will this year (especially Tenet). Willem Dafoe doesn’t have much of a role in Nightmare Alley. Jenkins is a much more baity role.

Its worth noting that a Nolan film has gotten an Oscar win for acting, but your point still stands. I’m confused at just how many people think Chalamet will be nominated for French Dispatch, it really doesn’t seem like the kind of film that’ll get actors nominated, and even then, Murray seemed like the biggest standout from the trailer.

I think we have a little too much faith in Jodie Comer. Sure, if her performance is amazing, then she could stand out, but I doubt she gets in unless they love the movie overall. She’s not the kind of star who can rise above mediocre reception like Kathy Bates this year (at least she’s not that kind of star YET).

Your 100% right. Especially people are deeming the movie a flop already. However she rose above Killing eve season 2, which shows me anything is possible lol

I think that Hillbilly and Nolandland movies will flop hard at the boxoffice and only get acting noms cause they look like a classic try-hard de-glam gemme-oscar baiting, but no wins.

I hope you realize that Hillbilly is from Netflix. The movie will only get a limited release and will be  in theaters for three weeks, at most.

same thing. it won’t be like record breaking PTA (per theater average) or something.

You’re still comparing apples to oranges. Netflix doesn’t care about Box office. They set a limited release for their movies so they can be eligible for Academy consideration. You can’t compare the box office of a limited released movie to one that has a wide release.

Netflix doesn’t care, that’s true. But boxoffice matters and is one of reasons why Netflix isn’t winning. Their viewership reports don’t carry the same weight and Hillbilly isn’t something that’s going to garner views anyway. But fair enough, I get your point.

I feel like it would be way easier for the film to finally happen it Glenn wins the Oscar this year. Which would unfortunately hurt her chances of winning for Sunset Boulevard.

People have decided the movie is a flop based on three grainy behind the scenes photos taken from a closed set.

Personally I’m waiting for the trailer.

Iranian Drama “There is No Evil” just won the Golden Bear at the Berlin 2020 film festival.

could this emerge as a contender for best international feature if it’s Iran’s submission and builds enough buzz? Iran has won the Oscar twice with Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation and The Salesman.
