The screenwriter on NGW said they’re looking at a 2021 date last week and someone revealed on the AW forums that Nomadland is being pushed so she can finish Eternals.

Most likely, yes. Can’t see them finish Nightmare this year, no chance. And if I remember correctly there were some talk a while ago about Blonde being pushed to 2021.

Annette is also 2021. No clear word on Ammonite, though.

Considering also the films that will start shooting for a 2021 release after the curve is flattened, 2021-2022 looks to be the most packed award season ever.

So it seems that the 2021 academy awards edition is going to be slender while the 2022 is going to be crowded right?

Is Annette confirmed to be at Cannes in 2021?

There was a Variety article that said it was expected to be, but the studio was hinting that it would be sooner a couple of weeks ago and Sparks were talking about Toronto during press for their new record.

It may be that they weren’t able to make some things work, or that Carax has his heart set on Cannes, or that Variety was just guessing. Nothing confirmed as far as I’m aware.

Macbeth is a 2021 release, and most likely Amsterdam too. There was someone stating The French Dispatch is a 2021 release but I believe that person misread and that TFD is still on for 2020.

Macbeth (which is now called The Tragedy of Macbeth) is 2021 and The French Dispatch is still 2020.

Andrew Garfield is teaming up with James Marsh (The Theory Of Everything) for drama biopic about James Rhodes.

“Rhodes’ memoir reveals how music saved his life after he suffered sexual abuse as a pupil at his all-boys junior school. The pianist prodigy suffered mentally as well as physically, including spinal damage, eating disorders and PTSD, while his abuser died before he could appear in court”.

maybe we will see them in the awards season?

The French Dispatch, Soul, and Ammonite have been named as Cannes 2020 selections. Obviously the festival isn’t happening and they won’t be shown, but they can show a Cannes card at the beginning of the film.

More noteworthy selections may be made, not all have been announced yet.

So do you think those three movies are going to come out this year?

The French Dispatch will come out in October regardless.

But despite the Cannes 2020 label, I don’t think Ammonite will come out this year, there’s too uncertainty around the possibility of festival screenings in Venice and Toronto.

I don’t think those will happen.
