The last poll was poorly buzzed, maybe not enough people have seen “Gone with the Wind” or just couldn’t choose between two amazing performances. Whatever. Let’s move on! This time, we will try out something new. Three Women. Same film. An Oscar-winner. An Oscar-nominee and the Underrated One. Let’s see who wins!

Also, this time, you have exactly 5 days to vote. Let’s hope for a long and interesting discussion about the poll!

I thought the film had a great cast, and I recognize how Octavia Spencer was the breakout performer from the film, and Chastain was equally great, but I feel that Bryce Dallas Howard doesn’t get the recognition she deserves for playing such a gloriously sinister villain. My vote goes to her.

First of all, I really liked “The Help” – it’s an incredibly great ensemble film, and even if it’s not really groundbreaking, I do think the performances are mostly brilliant.

Octavia Spencer is okay in “The Help”. I don’t think she is Oscar-worthy at all (her performance in “Ugly Betty” is the best I’ve seen by her), but the Oscar definitely helped her career: she already starred in many worthy movies such as “Fruitvale Station” “Snowpiercer” or “Black and White”. Let’s hope she can continue working with the right material and well-written roles. I wish all the best for her!

Jessica Chastain is a revelation here. I loved her in “Tree of a Life” “The Debt” and “Take Shelter” that year, but her performance in “The Help” is just beautiful. She was very deserving of the Oscar, but I think she was really happy for her friend, Octavia too, so it’s all fine. She proved to be one of the most amazing working actresses in the last few years in roles such as “Zero Dark Thirty” “Mama” “The Disappearance of Elenor Rigby” “A Most Violent Year” or “Interstellar”. I see a long career and many Oscars in her future.

I’m a little bit sad because of Bryce Dallas Howard. She got basically nothing for playing Hilly Holbrook, which is unfair. She’s so hateable, irritating, annoying, offensive as fuck. And that’s kind of proving the power of her magnificently evil performance. It’s a shame that no one cared for her here, but I’m one of those who believed that she was actually robbed for the Oscar nomination. I wish she would be working with better material in her career, but so far she was Oscar-worthy in this and “The Village” also.

I’m loving Chastain the most, but I’m voting for Dallas Howard, because she needs the support.

No contest. Jessica Chastain. I thought she had the most layered performance of the three. More so than Spencer, who was entertaining, but I don’t know about win-worthy. At least after her win, she would go on to give even better performances. Bryce Dallas Howard was also very good, too.

    Here is another suggestion:

Almost Famous: Frances McDormand vs. Kate Hudson or Les Miserables: Samantha Barks vs. Anne Hathaway

Olivia de Havilland was nominated for Gone With The Wind in Supporting Actress was not an option in your previous poll. Hence it looked racist.

    Chastain easily.

I would do Sandra Bullock in Infamous vs. Catherine Keener in Capote.
    (Sandra, hands down).

I’m not doing nominee-nominee battles. I’m doing performance-performance battles. I wanted Butterfly McQueen to have a chance to shine in a game as we often forget about her beautiful performance as Prissy. This time I left out Allison Janney and Cicely Tyson, and included Bryce Dallas Howard with the two Oscar-nominees. I apolgozie if my decisions hurted your feelings, but can we stop assuming things like this? I care about certain battles, and as the host of the game, I think I have kind of the right to ask my polls. I also accept suggestions. If you have any, you can share it.

It’s an interesting idea. I’m up for challenges and do battles not from only the same movie. 🙂

Chastain 🙂 One of my favorite performances from one of my favorite actresses. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be a character from a film’s best friend until I met Celia Foote

What about Mena Suvari and Thora Birch in American Beauty? And Sarah Paulson and Lupita Nyong’o!

The best supporting actress in The Help is Viola Davis. Of these choices, the best is Chastain with Howard close behind. I would have nominated all three, giving Davis the win.

Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada
Abigail Breslin and Toni Collette in Little Miss Sunshine
