Apple has slated Swan Song for a December 17 release date and has released some first images.

Apple Original Films today revealed that the highly anticipated, star-studded film “Swan Song” will debut in theaters and globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, December 17. “Swan Song” stars two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, who also serves as producer; eight-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close; and Academy Award nominee Naomie Harris. Golden Globe Award winner Awkwafina and Golden Globe Award nominee Adam Beach also star in the ensemble cast.

Set in the near future, “Swan Song” is a powerful, emotional journey told through the eyes of Cameron (Mahershala Ali), a loving husband and father diagnosed with a terminal illness who is presented with an alternative solution by his doctor (Glenn Close) to shield his family from grief. As Cam grapples with whether or not to alter his family’s fate, he learns more about life and love than he ever imagined. “Swan Song” explores how far we will go, and how much we’re willing to sacrifice, to make a happier life for the people we love.

The emotionally compelling and thought-provoking film is helmed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Benjamin Cleary (“Stutterer”), from an original screenplay written by Cleary and produced by Anonymous Content and Concordia Studio.

It’s giving some “Her” vibes to me right now. Could be a contender.

No festivals and no buzz, i’m sure Apple will try, but this one won’t go anywhere.

But the release date shows they have some faith in it.

Just give it to Close sight unseeen. End our long national nightmare. (and she was good in that movie early this year Four Good Days.) Maybe she’ll get some critic’s awards for both films combined.

Frankly seeing whether or not Close would win was the only thing intersting about  the last Oscars.

This is literally my type of film, but I had to LOL when I saw the end credits and it said, “Academy Award nominee Glenn Close.” For some reason, it was a bit hilarious.

Anyhow, not sure if this is an Oscar movie, but its in my top films I must watch.

It won’t go anywhere awards season wise, but it’s still probably worth seeing.

This feels like the kind of thing that would get a surprise acting nod at the Golden Globes and not make a splash anywhere else.

She recently gave one of the TV performances of the year in The Third Day – I recommend checking it out!
