There will be magic between Todd Field and Cate Blanchett in TAR. And I am all here for the artistic ride!
She will most def get a nomination in lead this year. A win is a more unsure thing. There are stronger narratives in this race:01: Michelle Yeoh becoming the first Asian actress to win an Oscar
02. Margot Robbie getting her “it girl Oscar win”
03. Emma Thompson getting her “2nd lead trophy” since 1993/ 1994
04. Cate Blanchett getting her “3rd trophy, 2nd i lead”Her 8th nomination for TAR is going to build a stronger case for Blanchett getting the 3rd Oscar. Its just a matter of time combined with timing, project and the performance

By that I mean I could see it getting a slew of nominations including Director, Lead Actress, Supporting Actress, Original Screenplay, Cinematography, etc. while somehow missing Picture.
It’s giving me masterpiece vibes, but I’m skeptical of its appeal beyond cinephiles.

I agree. It’s looks like a masterpiece but it could be only for cinephiles

10 slots for BP has always allowed cinephiles to get at least 1-2 of their picks in.
