Taylor Swift Making Feature Directing Debut for Searchlight Pictures
Taylor Swift will be making her feature directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures. The singer, songwriter and director has written an original script, which will be produced by the Oscar-winning studio behind “Nomadland” and “The Shape of Water.” Other key details, like a plot and casting, are being kept under wraps until a later date, but landing the project from one of the world’s most successful musicians is a coup.
“Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey,” said Searchlight presidents David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield.

Lol not happening.
1. Swift actually has craft, her skill was well demonstrated in ATW TSF. No it wasn’t Oscar worthy, but it showed she has talent as a filmmaker.
2. Her power over media, no one would be audacious enough to critically pan her films. I do think it will be graded on a curve.

Scarlett is the ex of her best friends, Ryan Reynolds and Jack Antonoff. But I really hope she goes with the Oscar standbys or a complete no-name…

ReplyCopy URLMarch 27, 2023 at 2:41 pm #1205366037I remember when the news first broke, journalists on twitter were like “I fear for whoever is assigned to review this film.”
Her pivot into a filmmaker has been a little abrupt I won’t lie.

March 27, 2023 at 2:51 pm #1205366053Her biggest mistake was the Oscar campaign… everyone was genuinely applauding her for her filmmaking skills. But then word got out that she’s spending $ on trying to win, and it just devalued the quality of her film and public opinion of her craft…

Elizabeth Olsen - Love & DeathMarch 27, 2023 at 2:57 pm #1205366065I am of the opinion that she could’ve got a nomination, or AT LEAST shortlisted if she had released the film on Apple TV+ or any other streamer instead of YouTube.
It got confused as a glorified music video… her campaign efforts also needed to be a little bit more subdued.
ReplyCopy URLMarch 27, 2023 at 3:02 pm #1205366073I agree with all this Oscar discussion, but can we get back to the point of what the film is gonna be about though?
ReplyCopy URLMarch 27, 2023 at 3:04 pm #1205366083A lot of people hate her. I remember all the comments in her interview with Martin McDonaugh: “she is NOT a DIRECTOR” “WHAT/WHY she is talking about Directors with Martin McDonaugh?”
