I think it’s quite early to say stuff like this. Specially when we haven’t even seen half of the movies. Anyway… I wouldn’t be surprised if Delroy Lindo managed to get in everywhere and then got snubbed. Same with Tom Hanks. Mulligan could definitely go this way as well but for some reason I’m actually confident in her.

Same here. I mean she has the buzz it just depends how the film gets received by the industry (which I’m quite optimistic about). It is a high profile film after all regardless of its awards chances (publications have literally going on all year about it being one of the films to watch out for in 2020/one of the films that would have been huge if the pandemic hadn’t happened).
For Actress I’d say Zendaya is in the risk of being this year’s Chalamet actually. Both huge stars rising in the industry who did well awards wise and critics rise for their presitge breakthrough performance who get snubbed despite an acclaimed performance for a film that’s a non-factor outside of their performance.

I could see either Sophia Loren or Carey Mulligan getting into all of the precursors but missing the Oscar nom.

JDW is absolutely in the Actor mix too. He made GG and SAG for BlacKkKlansman, could maybe get a boost from Tenet as well, and I have a feeling awards shows will nominate both together or neither. And since it’ll definitely the most ‘timely’ movie in the mix, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the theater-esque quarantine relationship drama get an Original Screenplay nod as well, especially since that fifth spot seems to be wide open.
Yeah I was just flaunting it as a possibility for the film because I think Zendaya is getting into the Globes no matter what.

It’s November in a crazy year. We won’t have Globe/SAG/CC/BAFTA or Oscar noms for a few months still. There is no way a category, like Best Actor, is a “locked top 5.” There are too many movies still unseen and we have no gauge on who the industry will be behind. It’s risky to call an entire category a lock even after all the precursors are out.

What?! Best Actor doesn’t have a locked top5 in any god damn world. We are in November…

Yeah, it’s way too early to say who’s an absolute lock. Plus, that category is stacked and could be very competitive.

also taking a risk with Oldman in Mank. Seyfried stole his thunder.
