Thanks for posting your video Jason!

That link isnt clickable from my end so I pasted it into my browser.

The video is really well put together.  I forgot to mention before how great it is seeing Back to the Future on your list! Such a classic.

    Great video.

There are a few, like Se7en, that I don’t think deserved Best Picture nods. But still, it is surprising to remember some of the films that were overlooked, including some of the most iconic motion pictures ever produced.

Singing in the Rain? North by Northwest? City Lights? Or the often-overlooked but extremely groundbreaking Roger Rabbit? Crazy to look back on.

It almost makes you want to start an award ceremony like Matt Damon suggests — awarding films only five years after they were released. That way, the initial buzz has faded and, potentially, the films that deserve it most receive the trophies.

Lmao I’m bored so I found the farthest back thread I can find and this one actually had an  intersting topic so let’s continue. Btw the last comment made on this thread was made 7 and a half years ago lmao!!!

Personally I believe that A Quiet Place should have been nominated this year! Would have even been a better winner than Green Book wbk!!!

This thread made me laugh a little. The subtle implication that the nominees for Best Picture eventually enter the Canon of best films ever made… lol.

Anyway, my list would just be my top 25 films of all time; you could extend it to top 50 and it still might not include a BP nominee.

If a limit to English language films only and not outlandish films that they would never consider (like John Waters’ Female Trouble) I would select:

    2001: A Space Odyssey
    Badlands
    3 Women
    Carrie
    Do the Right Thing
    The Devils
    The Music Lovers
    Tommy
    Dressed to Kill
    Walkabout
    Don’t Look Now
    The Purple Rose of Cairo
    The Unbearable Lightness of Being
    Leaving Las Vegas
    Dead Man Walking
    Mulholland Drive
    Blue Velvet
    The Straight Story
    Boys Don’t Cry
    Vera Drake
    Breaking the Waves
    Promises in the Dark
    Yanks
    Days of Heaven
    Interiors
