This film has been in the works for almost two years. It goes into production next month. Possible 2017 release? Robin Bissell (“The Hunger Games”) adapted and will direct the film.
Civil Rights activist, Ann Atwater, faces off against the Ku Klux Klan during the 1960s in order to desegregate schools in Durham, North Carolina.

ReplyCopy URLMay 17, 2017 at 9:15 pm #1202095849I’m confused. Is Taraji still shooting Proud Mary?
ReplyCopy URLMay 17, 2017 at 10:44 pm #1202095869She was. Production wrapped either yesterday or today.

Still pissed of she didn’t get nominated for Hidden Figures.
Me too! She should’ve easily been apart of the lineup!!

Im also predicting way early that Babou Ceesay will get nominated and maybe even win. I don’t even know who he is playing but He is such a remarkable actor. He is so talented and he is just now breaking out. He is incredible on Guerilla. If you’re not watching that amazing show, stop reading this and watch it now.
I assume the film will be ready for this year. It’s an indie film which won’t require much post production. Unless they want to wait for it to debut at Sundance or Cannes next year.
I actually think Ceesay has the baitiest role of the cast save for Taraji. Ceesay’s character is very defiant from what I’ve read. While Atwater was a fearless, no-BS kinda woman and the only person brave enough to face Ellis (Rockwell).
ReplyCopy URLMay 19, 2017 at 12:44 pm #1202097314The book is great. Taraji is clearly in an Oscar-bait lane now with this and “Hidden Figures.” This is more baity than that was. It could also be Sam Rockwell’s first Oscar nomination too, which is way overdue.

Taraji has Proud Mary (for the coin) & She’s Living My Life (for the culture) coming out next year in addition to Best Of Enemies (for the accolades) assuming it doesn’t come out this year. My bitch is out here werqing!
