Who did it best? Helen Mirren, Claire Foy, or Olivia Colman?

Let’s rank them after rewatching their work:

    1. Foy (deserved Emmy)

    2. Mirren (deserved Oscar)

    .

    .

    .

    .

    3. Colman (meh)

I love Helen Mirren but the fact that we’re even question whether Foy is the best is laughable.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

Helen Mirren. It’s not even a contest.

Claire Foy by a MILE. But I think Imelda Staunton will dethrone her soon.

Why is this in the movies thread and what’s the point of it? Other than to encourage dissing Colman (again)

I was just curious. Not to mention that it’s discussing both film and TV adaptations of her life.

Claire Foy was probably closest to the actual Queen (was she? I don’t know), but I find Mirren’s performance to be much more engaging and added more than what was there to really make the material rise up to another level. Re: Colman, not sure if the director/writer was lost or if she was. Her Emmy nomination was…generous. She brightened up when she had scenes with Jason Watkins as Harold Wilson. I don’t blame Colman as much as the writers who seriously didn’t give her much material to work with and the director who didn’t guide her performance better. She seemed eaten up by the enormity of the role and was holding back.
