I dont know if this already exist but what are some honorable mentions for this?January 5, 2019 at 7:09 pm #1202720203
Most people would agree about Alicia Vikander and Viola Davis in 2016 and 2017. In my opinion, Alicia Vikander is the lead in The Danish Girl (however her win was actually well deserved).
Hailee Steinfeld was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in True Grit despite the fact that she is literally in every scene.
Catharine Zeta-Jones in Chicago (she and Zellweger were co leads).
Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain (he and Ledger were co leads).

All time is Tatum O’Neal for Paper Moon.
People complain about Vikander but both Emma Stone and Mahersala Ali this year blow her out of the water in terms of being a LEAD.
Rooney Mara in Carol was awful too.

Amy Adams needs more recognition for not submitting supporting for Nocturnal Animals a couple years back. She mightve very well got a nom but she chose not to even though she already had a leading vehicle that year in Arrival. Makes that Arrival snub sting all the more.
Emily blunt is fraudently submitting supporting in A Quiet Place since she has Mary PoppinsJanuary 5, 2019 at 7:25 pm #1202720216
The Favourite ends on a way too sad, dark and dramatic tone to consider it as a comedy.
Vikander TDG, i think they did campaign for her to get in Lead with Ex Machina so they submitted her in supporting for TDG, the later payed off eventually. Winslet did the same to grab two nods for the 2009 Oscars, (this worked out pretty well at the Golden Globes and she won two awards that night.) however, the AMPAS reversed her strategy and putted her in the Leading field with her supporting submission. She later won.
Viola wanted an Oscar so bad that she didn’t hesitate to fraud in order to secure her win. Adams isn’t frauding this year but she deserves a BA Oscar so did Viola. How sad!
Rooney Mara was shamelessly putted in supporting so the movie would have more chances to win an Oscar.

well, Honorary award for achievement in category fraud Miss Viola DavisJanuary 5, 2019 at 7:34 pm #1202720226
Viola Davis is probably the worst I’ve seen.January 5, 2019 at 7:44 pm #1202720232

Ahah, she screwed up her chances to win a BA oscar herself.
She would have lost against Stone, but she was winning her BA Oscar on her next nomination. Halle Berry being the only black actress to ever win in that category, and all the Hollywood Oscar so white stuff, the academy wouldn’t hesitate one second to give her the BA in another year than 2017.January 5, 2019 at 8:17 pm #1202720246
Viola Davis is not the worst at category fraud.
The worst at category fraud are the following:
Tatum O’Neil for Paper Moon
Hailee Steinfeld for True GritJanuary 5, 2019 at 8:20 pm #1202720248
Ethan Hawke in Training Day and Rooney Mara in Carol are just utterly mind-boggling.
I haven’t seen Fences.January 5, 2019 at 8:35 pm #1202720276
Actually, the worst of all time is Timothy Hutton in Ordinary People
For Your Emmy Consideration: Best Comedy Series Sex Education, Comedy Lead Actor Asa Butterfield, Comedy Supporting Actress Guillian Anderson, Drama Supporting Actress Miranda Otto for The Chilling Adventure of Sabrina.January 5, 2019 at 8:58 pm #1202720301
Jack Albertson in The Subject Was Roses is actually worse than Hutton- he was in 58% of his film, versus the latter’s 52%.
Also have to include Patty Duke in The Miracle Worker, who was in 61% of her film, just behind O’Neal’s 65%.January 5, 2019 at 9:28 pm #1202720315
Haing S. Ngor was a lead in The Killing Fields.
Julia Roberts in August: Osage County
A reverse case was Patricia Neal in Hud. That was baffling. She’s barely in it but for some reason went lead. (I mean it worked and she got a Best Actress Oscar but still it seems odd.)
