it would have made more sense for halle bailey to play squeak. she fits the role more than H.E.R. in my opinion.

So TCP will be Released Wednesday December 20th, The week of Christmas break (Christmas is on the following Monday). Other movies opening that weekend (on Dec 22nd) are:

-Star Wars Rogue Squadron
-Star Trek 4
also being released Dec 20th is The Tigers Apprentice.

Competing against that type of competition, TCP seems to be planning a word of Mouth Strategy for its release.

blitz bazawule’s vision for his work is so extraordinary. the work that he has done with black is king and the burial of kojo was stunning. i can’t even imagine how the visuals are gonna look for this movie. it’s gonna be so unbelievable

here is what taraji p henson said about the movie in a recent interview with the root:

“i just think you guys aren’t ready. This cast is magical. The mood, the direction is magical. The cinematography is mystical. It is so beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Black people look so beautiful in a time when it wasn’t particularly beautiful to Black people. And I just don’t think you’re ready to see the talent. I just know, speaking for myself, you guys aren’t ready to see me sing the way I’m singing. I haven’t done like Broadway-style singing since I was in college. I thought I missed the singing boat. Just goes to show what’s meant for you won’t miss you.”

my excitement for this movie is way too real. december 2023 feels like an eternity from now
