    Hello everyone,

A new trailer was just released for Netflix’s The Dig, starring Ralph Fiennes, Carey Mulligan, and Lily James. In my opinion, it looks absolutely beautiful. It’ll be released in select theaters and on Netflix in January.

What are your thoughts on the trailer? Do you think it has any Oscar chances at all, most likely in below-the-line categories? The cinematography, for example, seems stunning.

    Here’s the trailer: https://youtu.be/JZQz0rkNajo

This seems more like a “this had oscar buss” movie. It looks perfectly good but its just a type of movie that while they wouldve gone nuts for 10-20 years ago has kind of fallen out of favor lately. Plus its marquee names have famously spotty track records with the academy, despite how many times theyve both deserved it

James, due to gendered double standards, will struggle to gain any traction. The only relevance this has to the 2021 race is in boosting Mulligan’s chances for Pretty Young Woman, as it shows her in a very different light, showcasing her versatility.

This won’t go far at the Oscars but it will indeed be very helpful for Mulligan for Promising Young Woman. Not only does she have this but she has A Christmas Carol with Daniel Kaluuya which she’s competing in supporting for.

FYC OSCARS : PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN IN ALL CATEGORIES (ESP. ACTRESS – Carey Mulligan AND ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY — EMERALD FENNELL), VANESSA KIRBY FOR "PIECES OF A WOMAN", ESSIE DAVIS FOR "BABYTEETH"
