Those fireplace scenes saved the final quarter which really dragged for me. And the ending itself was almost as brilliant as something from Mulholland Dr…

Yeah, once the feud “ended” there wasn’t much shown, but that ending sure packed a punch with the power dynamic.

I saw this the other day and it was excellent. Going in I had heard a lot of praise for the acting and script, but the visuals also blew me away, completely. The lighting was absolutely fantastic, the cinematography was stunning, and the production design was perfect. I wish this were one of those movies that’d sweep, but I guess it won’t.

The final quarter did definitely drag. It did not feel like a two-hour movie, it felt more like 2 1/2. The ending was brilliant.

I am predicting The Favourite will likely win Oscars for Best Original Screenplay and Best Costume Design. It’s a frontrunner for Best Production Design but my gut intuition tells me Black Panther is going to win that one, but it’s super close. I would prefer Olivia Colman to Glenn Close but am fine with either one of the winning. The movie was wonderful and visually stunning. 10 Oscar nominations in 9 categories! Glad that Yorgos Lanthimos got a nomination after being left out at DGA!

BAFTA might choose it for Best Film but I am thinking Roma could win that prize while BAFTA will win Best British Film. I see Olivia winning there and Rachel having a strong chance at Supporting Actress. It will win more awards there than at the Oscars. I think BAFTA’s Best Picture is a straight one vote per category thing rather than preferential ballot.

This movie isn’t winning. Eat it.

We’re all gonna get fat eating all of these you’re suggesting.

I have a feeling Olivia is gonna regret going leading in the long run, just like Viola Davis did. And just like Viola Davis, the next time she gets nominated she’ll go supporting no matter what. Just a hunch.

I’m surprised Viola didn’t use the “We’re an ensemble!” argument into sneaking herself into supporting.

Just watched it tonight again and lol these last few responses killed me, including that troll Bowie’s old one.

Side note: I need all the trailers to be edited to where it says: Academy Award-winner Olivia Colman.
