Any guesses how this will perform in terms of Oscar predictions? This year’s Manchester By the Sea?June 1, 2017 at 11:48 pm #1202108618
I can see this film performing similar to Manchester By the Sea if it’s well received (directed by same person who did Short Term 12)
Best Director – Destin Daniel Cretton
Best Actress – Brie Larson
Best Supporting Actor – Woody Harrelson
Best Supporting Actress – Naomi Watts
Best Adapted Screenplay
I think Woody has the best chance out of this movie nominations to win.June 2, 2017 at 12:10 am #1202108650
I have a feeling it’ll have a good score too. The biographical films usually do.
Fingers crossed Woody does the best when it comes to awards, it’s about time he received some recognition.June 2, 2017 at 12:15 am #1202108667
Imma get those tissue boxes ready :'(
Woody is on the top of alot of prediction sites right now for Supporting Actors lol, I do think the supporting race will be between him and one of the Call Me actors for now.June 2, 2017 at 1:44 am #1202108775
i just hope this movie does well and that Naomi has oscar-baity scenes because i have a feeling that she won’t have much screen time based on the trailer hmmJune 2, 2017 at 1:55 am #1202108781
Playing a mom (21 Grams, The Impossible, The Glass Castle)…Check
Something bad happens to her family (21 Grams, The Impossible, The Glass Castle)…Check
Getting destroyed emotionally and physically (21 Grams. The Impossible, The Glass Castle) and now financially (The Glass Castle)….Check
Sounds like a formula thats locked her for a nomination in the past.
If Naomi pulls a 21 gram kitchen/front door meltdown scene or The Impossible crying on the plane/hospital, she’s locked for a nomination and hopefully a win regardless of screen time. I’m sure she has more big scenes with Brie.June 2, 2017 at 4:30 am #1202108795
I just hope it don’t flop. I need it to be at least decent for Naomi. Larson can disappear for all I care.June 2, 2017 at 5:11 am #1202108802
Watts isn’t a lock for a win if any of her rival nominees are a more overdue veteran like Pfeiffer or Bening.June 2, 2017 at 7:25 am #1202108869This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.June 2, 2017 at 7:34 am #1202108875
I’m soooooo excited for this movie. Anyone else worried about the August release date though?June 2, 2017 at 8:11 am #1202108911
Detroit’s being released a week earlier and The Beguiled is being released this month, if we are calling those Oscar baits and locks despite Coppolas spotty record and release dates, then I think Glass Castle should be okay. It has a similar release date to Hell or High Water so I don’t think it’s DOA for award consideration.August 6, 2017 at 3:04 pm #1202176763
