So… they just released the trailer for “The Grinch,” an animated adaptation of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Grinch.

I just saw it. And… I don’t know what to say.

    What’s your opinion?

Turned it off as soon as Happy started playing.

I love the Grinch. Anything to do with him. So I’m excited.

Still recovering from the massacre of “The Lorax.”

    And now this.

Common sense tells me that Audrey Geisel cannot possibly need the money this badly, but… Oy.

The only appealing thing about this trailer is Max the dog. I’ve always loved Max in each of the versions of the Grinch. You can’t help but feel bad for him since the Grinch always works him like a slave.

To me, this at least already looks better than whatever that Jim Carrey film was that Ron Howard directed.

I honestly like the Ron Howard-Jim Carrey version, although the original animated short will always be the best. I think this new one looks way worse.

And oh, my God. What the actual HELL was Cumberbatch on when he recorded his lines!?

Why would you hire Benedict Cumberbatch for this?

The original is probably one of my favourite films of all time.

I actually thought Cumberbatch was going to knock it out of the park. After all, he CAN play cunning characters with deep voices, like he did in Star Trek Into Darkness and Doctor Strange. I am MASSIVELY disappointed with what we got with him.  He didn’t even try.
