This is a great movie, in my opinion it will be nominated for best original screenplay, I really enjoyed this movie, the critics seems to like it a lot, Gleeson and Cheadle are outstanding.

Though this got decent reviews and did more business than several other Sony Classics films have done or will do, this never seemed to have the profile of an “Oscar” film. Sony Classics has been in business for 20+ years because they are thrifty. They likely made a profit from this film (as did their producers). Launching an Oscar campaign when there seemed to be little chance of success is against their corporate agenda.

Sony Classics also has a whole lot of other films in the race.

My guess is they made this decision after discussions with the producers (they might have been asked if they wanted to kick in any money themselves).
