New GD interview with Arthur Max, the production designer of TLD: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_7xqgLtxpNk He talked about doing research by traveling throughout France, how the shutdown at the height of COVID was beneficial because the crew returned re-energized, collaborating with Dariusz and shooting with candlelight and firelight and modeling Jean’s bedroom-which was built at the studios in Ireland-after Richard the Lionheart’s bedroom.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 10, 2022 at 1:46 am #1204711488That woman is talking nonsense and clearly hasn’t watched the interviews at all. There are plenty of interviews where Holofcener states she was flattered and the process of writing challenged her, receipts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gfl6uv6mAf8
Yes, I saw a lot of the interviews with Nicole and she frequently said she was flattered she was asked to co-write the script, and that she loved the challenge of working on the film. I can’t believe that woman thought it was a good idea to post that stupid tweet. It’s so insulting to Nicole.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 10, 2022 at 1:56 am #1204711501I saw the GD interview with Jodie. She talked about doing research about Marguerite, collaborating with Nicole, Affleck & Damon with the script, how she liked that the rape scene from Marguerite’s chapter was shot first because it established the truth, how she, Damon & Driver couldn’t stop giggling & “lost their minds” shooting the kiss scene with 3 different POVs. She also talked about KE and said S4 features Villanelle’s best disguise: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hjd16rz7Es

It will be forever a tragedy how underrated her performance in this is. She’s so deserving of a nomination.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 10, 2022 at 4:06 am #1204711690I think this is the most infuriating and worst thing I’ve read when it comes to TLD. Nicole is a respected Oscar-nominated writer and director in her own right and this woman has taken away agency from her and is acting like she was forced to co-write the script at gun point: https://mobile.twitter.com/acagoldsmith/status/1450236708071649282 Also: her info is wrong. Ridley and Nicole didn’t have to be “convinced” to do the film.
I wouldn’t worry too much about it – this is just some deranged fan of Driver’s who has some bizarre parasocial relationship to him and seems to think she works for him/he should be taking her direct advice on his career. I’ve seen her post relentlessly about how upset she was about him portraying a rapist (and other random things, like the fact that he smokes cigarettes…yes, really).
Anyway, the streaming boost TLD is getting could push it into a few tech noms at Oscars, and I reckon it’s got a really good shot at higher profile noms at BAFTA.

She really is. It’s my favorite 2021 performance. It’s a shame that awards events are about popularity and not always about quality.
She was phenomenal as Marguerite and I hope she gets more opportunities. Fingers crossed she signs up for something once she’s done with her play. I also think one big underrated thing about her performance is how different she had to act with the three chapters. That was challenging and she did a great job.

Yeah, I’ve seen her other posts and she acts like she has direct access to him. Her tweets are frankly bizarre. Speaking of streaming, TLD is still killing it on digital. It’s currently #5 on the US iTunes store.

The page got updated since then and it turns out it contains links to the AMPAS Screening Room and Bafta View (for members to watch): https://disneystudiosawards.com/last-duel/watch

We’ve seen that before when actors have multiple projects in a year. Seems like the same thing is happening with Bradley Cooper

Yeah, Jodie in several interviews had said she commonly pursuit to do roles that are out of her comfort zone as an actress. Like for example working on her first and incoming play in the West End and not having experience of it. She has sold out the whole thing, huge for her.

Jesus Christ, Comer! Diet Coke? You know that’s gonna cause massive flatulence, correct? Especially, with a straw.
