It will drop on digital platforms 45 days after playing exclusively in theaters (so around November 30).

    Unfortunately I don’t subscribe to Disney+

    FYC 2023:

Zar Amir Ebrahimi - Shayda (Best Actress)
Helen Mirren - Golda (Best Actress)
Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt - Oppenheimer (Best Actor/Actress)

Unrelated, but Nicole Holofcener will reunite with Julia Louis-Dreyfus for her next movie, Beth & Don, and A24 landed the domestic rights. Holofcener will write and direct, and it starts shooting in early 2022: https://deadline.com/2021/11/a24-nicole-holofcener-beth-don-julia-louis-dreyfus-1234869077/

    Academy Award nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus?

Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

The film will release in Germany on January 6, 2022 and on January 19, 2022 in Norway (source: AdamDriverCentral).

    So here’s a question and I wonder people’s thoughts:

I know that even though HOG and TLD are both Ridley movies, Gucci is MGM and TLD is Disney so campaigning will look different. With that caveat, do people think it will help Duel’s awards chances if Gucci turns out to be much more mixed critically? If it seems like of the two Ridley movies, Duel is received much better?

The reason I ask is because I’ve read multiple pundits who seem to compare the two movies’ chances as if guilds, critics and AMPAS are likely to recognize mainly one Ridley film and not the other. What do people think of that? Gucci has been much more in the awards conversation to the extent that I think it has overshadowed The Last Duel a little bit, so if critics and other folks turn out not to like Gucci so much, will that make them take more notice of TLD?

Just curious. Looking forward to Gucci though it sounds fun…

According to the IG accounts of some crew members, the fourth and final season of KE finally wrapped. I really hope Jodie and the rest of the cast do some FYC events because November and December is when awards season really ramps up.

Jordan Ruimy from world of reel isn’t always reliable but he posted this about TLD: Nothing has technically changed otherwise, except for the reemergence of Ridley Scott’s “The Last Duel,” which was not well-liked at Venice, but has gotten much better reviews since then. It went from a 61 to a 70 Metascore and a 58 rotten score to an impressive 86 fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.

When it comes to “The Last Duel,” the proposition is almost irresistible for Oscar voters. This is a film starring three well-respected actors and a director who returns to the historical epic theatrics that won him Best Picture more than 20 years ago with “Gladiator.” It’s a rousing crowd pleaser that will win over audiences and have legs in the weeks and months to come.  Source: https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2021/11/jxx7rcpkp49f5ubljn8ggdyru97ovz

HoG has been under more attention than TLD because of Lady Gaga’s involvement-how it’s her second film and follow up to ASIB-and the fact that it’s about one of the world’s most famous fashion brands. HoG is under embargo and social media media reactions will supposedly be released on Tuesday (2:00 pm PT). TLD’s chances might depend on the critical reception to HoG.

Eric Goldman, the managing editor of Get Fandom liked The Last Duel and says he hopes Jodie gets nominated for an Oscar: Saw The Last Duel the other night and loved it. I don’t like everything Ridley Scott does but man he sure can deliver in a big way and did so here. Jodie Comer was absolutely terrific. I hope she gets an Oscar nomination despite the film being a box office bomb. Source: https://mobile.twitter.com/TheEricGoldman/status/1457402224150147076

Hopefully this is an indication that industry folks are actually turning out to watch this movie

For what it’s worth, a lot of the screenings Disney hosted went into waitlists after the film came out last month. Those who can RSVP are from voting groups like the HFPA, AFI Awards Jury, DGA, BAFTA, BFCA, AMPAS, PGA, WGA and SAG NOM COMM. I checked the film’s FYC site and there are 2 screenings left on waitlists. One is in NYC (November 8), and the other is in LA (November 9). I hope they host more screenings for TLD. Free Guy was a big critical and commercial success for them and they need to do right by Comer considering she’s in both Free Guy and TLD.

Agreed—she’s the only person I can think of who was in two 20th century productions this year.

TLD was mentioned in a THR article about 30 Oscar hopefuls entering the BP race:

    THE LAST DUEL

    20th Century Studios, Oct. 15

Two decades after winning the best original screenplay Oscar for Good Will Hunting, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon reteamed to write this drama, based on true events, with help from previous Oscar nominee Nicole Holofcener. Damon stars as a knight whose wife (Jodie Comer) accuses another man of rape. Adam Driver and Affleck co-star in Ridley Scott’s medieval epic fit for the #MeToo era. Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/oscars-dune-king-richard-best-picture-race-1235040995/

Does anyone know what the “watch” sections on Disney’s FYC pages are for? All of their films have one. I don’t want to get my hopes up-I don’t trust Disney-but could they be for upcoming Q&As and panels that will be filmed?
