Thought you might want to know it’s just been announced the film will drop on Digital HD on November 30.

Thanks babe, I never really buy/rent movies on demand through Amazon etc bit might make an exception here. Just wish I’d been able to see on big screen…

    FYC:

Zar Amir Ebrahimi - Holy Spider (Best Actress)
Ana de Armas, Julianne Nicholson - Blonde (Best Actress, Supporting Actress)
Samantha Morton - She Said (Best Supporting Actress)
Kerry Condon - The Banshees of Inisherin (Best Supporting Actress)

I was wondering that too but I was curious if it meant a link to stream it if you have credentials or something? Your idea makes sense too

Does anyone know what the “watch” sections on Disney’s FYC pages are for? All of their films have one. I don’t want to get my hopes up-I don’t trust Disney-but could they be for upcoming Q&As and panels that will be filmed?

My post above was in response to this

Their biggest mistake was casting Comer instead of Carey Mulligan. She would have owned the role and not play it off like some modern liberal college student, like Comer did.

New Variety interview with Jodie where she talks about moving on from KE, working on TLD and her West End debut. She also said she already did costume and hair tests for Kitbag: https://variety.com/2021/tv/global/jodie-comer-killing-eve-adam-driver-last-duel-1235106912/

Ignore them, they’re a troll. The account was created November 9. A lot of them have been popping up on GD lately.

I’ve been paying attention to mentions of The Last Duel on Twitter and Reddit and it’s interesting to me how much people are championing it? I don’t know if that means anything but I find it fascinating how much it gets talked about whereas people on GD never mention it or just say “it’s not happening.”

Makes me think few people on GD have even seen it. Which, based on the box office…is probably the case. Really hoping it finds a bigger audience when it comes to digital!!

It drops on digital on November 30. Yeah, based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think many on GD have seen it.

    From Clayton Davis at Variety:

“Perception can be reality, but the narrative that “The Last Duel” is critically divided has occupied conversations surrounding it. However, with an admirable 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, why are many of us writing the 20th Century Studios film off? With standout performances from stars Jodie Comer and Ben Affleck, the two could be one of those seemingly “dead in the water” contenders that come roaring back for the first half of the precursor season”

This is exactly the question I want to pose to people at GD: I’m not even saying The Last Duel is a major contender like Belfast, but why are so many writing this off?

I accidentally deleted my answer. Typing again: I think it’s because people believe HoG will be Ridley’s main awards push. A lot of it is due to the hype over Gaga. I hope Ridley and Jodie’s co-stars support Jodie and campaign for her. Affleck got strong reviews for his performance. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t campaign for it considering he also co-wrote and co-produced it.

Lol at Clayton Davis asking why people are writing it off when pundits like him and so many others (Jazz Tangcay, Erik Anderson etc) already decided for themselves who the nominees were going to be and had Gaga and her movie high on their predictions before the film even wrapped. Sometimes it feels like a popularity contest and not even about the quality of the performances.

yeah, it’s a lazy narrative and it’s simply not true. I know that those “narratives” are part of clickbait culture, but it is seriously so annoying.

I think TLD is getting a bit of “underdog” treatment on twitter & co. It’s a mixture of “I can’t believe how good this movie was” with “I can’t believe Disney didn’t even try with this one”. So people are lowkey rooting for it, because they feel it deserves better.

It’s a nice spot for this film to be at, where truly anything can happen.
