Starring Matt Damon. Produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Ridley Scott.April 25, 2021 at 3:17 am #1204220525
Smells like disaster.
No offence but is nobody brave enough to tell Ridley Scott that it might be time to retire?April 28, 2021 at 6:49 am #1204233228
The Playlist interviewed Nicole Holofcener last June, and on the third page, she talks briefly about co-writing The Last Duel and being a producer on it: https://theplaylist.net/nicole-holofcener-criterion-interview-20200612/3/
(the interview was done after filming wrapped in France, and after production got shut down before they could continue in Ireland because of COVID)April 28, 2021 at 7:18 am #1204233250
Adam Driver was recently interviewed about his partnership with Breitling watches, and he briefly talked about working on The Last Duel: https://dujour.com/style/adam-driver-breitling-cinema-squad-charlize-theron-brad-pitt/
Quote: Scott is clearly a big fan of the actor, who also stars in his upcoming film The Last Duel, a reteaming of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (who star and co-wrote the script with Nicole Holofcener) in an epic tale of betrayal and justice set in 14th-century France. “It was great,” says Driver of the opportunity. “It was a dream job. I love [Scott’s] movies and working with him. It’s such an incredible group of writers and actors, including Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and the incredible Jodie Comer. They’re unprecious about their material and so trusting and collaborative. All of the dream things that you hope for.”
I think the interview was done before filming for House of Gucci began, because the interviewer mentions at the beginning that he was getting ready to play Maurizio.May 29, 2021 at 5:10 am #1204277477
Jodie Comer talked about working on TLD in an interview with Hunger magazine (she was interviewed by Stephen Graham): https://www.hungertv.com/editorial/community-issue-jodie-comer/
JC: No, no! For The Last Duel, there was actually this whole confusion. I was told Ridley really wanted to meet me, but that I couldn’t read the script. And then we were chatting away in his office – you know he’s a Geordie? – and he asked me what I thought about the script! And I told him I hadn’t been given it and he was like, “What?” Then he said, “Right, I’m going to give it to you, I want you to go away, read it and let me know what you think.”
I thought the script was brilliant. I thought the way they’d approached the subject matter was phenomenal, and I just wanted to bite the hands off them, you know, for the opportunity to work with Ridley, and Adam and Matt and Ben and Nicole [Holofcener, co-writer of the screenplay]. It’s just a really, really clever script. And filming was just incredible. Ridley works in such a particular way, he has four or five cameras rolling the whole time. And he knows exactly what he wants, he’s meticulous. And he gives you the space to do what you want.May 30, 2021 at 1:11 pm #1204279322

If someone said that to him, he would said never. He is the main producer of his films. He is a multimillonaire and owner of several companies in Ads, TV and Film worlds. I suppose he really loves his work because he was a millonaire EVEN before THE DUELLISTS. He was so successful in the Ads world(in terms of money) he didn’t even need TV or Films.June 25, 2021 at 6:45 am #1204317381
According to Dariusz Wolski-TLD’s cinematographer-a trailer for the film should drop ‘soon.’ He said this in reply to a comment on his IG post.June 25, 2021 at 6:49 am #1204317385
Also: there is this really creepy Jodie Comer fan on Twitter who talks about Comer as if they personally know her and have insight into her life, and seem overconfident she’s going to get nominated for the film. I’m a fan of Comer and looking forward to watching the film, but I won’t be surprised if she gets snubbed because of the subject matter. It all comes down to how it’s handled. This same creepy fan also acts as if Comer and Driver are the only cast members, and wants Comer to do promotion for the film with Driver only.June 25, 2021 at 6:58 am #1204317399

Twitter is literally full of people like this.June 25, 2021 at 7:08 am #1204317411
I really don’t understand this behavior. I’ve also seen it a lot with Driver’s fans on social media. The way they act as if they personally know these actors and infantilize them is bizarre.
Adam Driver has one of the wilder Twitter fanbases. There is a subset that hates his wife and is dedicated to ‘proving’ they’re not really together (see also Benedict Cumberbatch fans), a subset that just sexualises him really aggressively, a subset obsessed with the size of his hands, Reylos… it’s wild.
Comer is not far behind him. Her fans are pretty dedicated.June 25, 2021 at 7:16 am #1204317418

There are accounts on IG dedicated to his hands, teeth, and hair 💀June 26, 2021 at 11:21 pm #1204319968
Having recently finished the book, I wanted to give some info about who the supporting characters are. Ben Affleck is playing Count Pierre d’Alencon, a wealthy noble who was also a relative of King Charles and the overlord of Jean and Le Gris. IMDB had previously incorrectly listed Affleck as King Charles, but Affleck himself told Jimmy Kimmel last year-during The Way Back promotion-he was playing a Count who gets in the middle of a dispute over land between Le Gris and Jean.
Nathaniel Parker portrays Marguerite’s (Comer) father, Sir Robert D’Thibouville.
IMDB lists Michael McElhatton as Bernard Latour. In the book, he’s described as the husband of one of Jean’s sisters. IMDb lists Serena Kennedy as Queen Isabeau, the future Queen of France and King Charles’s wife. The only mystery is who is playing King Charles, who was a teenager during the events of TLD.Not now
