    • Alisha Grauso (Features editor at ScreenRant): The more I think about #TheLastDuel, the more I really enjoy it. Fantastic performances (Comer steals the film), richly steeped in the history of the era. Sound mix & score are exquisite; the opening scene gets your heart racing with tension. One of Scott’s best in years. source: https://mobile.twitter.com/AlishaGrauso/status/1446193043183308818

Zach Pope (Film & TV critic): #TheLastDuel is Ridley Scott’s best film in awhile. An epic, brutal, but intimate at its heart/soul of its story. A lot of this comes thanks to a fascinating script that brings a unique structure to the entire story. But truthfully Jodie Comer commands the screen & runs the show. Also SHOUTOUT TO BEN Affleck! He gives one of my favorite supporting performances of this entire year. Could easily see him getting nominated! Depending on how the rest of the year goes! source: https://mobile.twitter.com/popetheking/status/1446333516514353152 & https://mobile.twitter.com/popetheking/status/1446333885382492167

David Sims (staff writer for The Atlantic): THE LAST DUEL is a gnarly, shaggy epic, a classic Ridley Scott screen about power serving the powerful and nobody else, with Matt Damon as a French barbarian who looks like a medieval Buffethead and Ben Affleck as a dumb horny lord. I hope it makes a billion dollars. source: https://mobile.twitter.com/davidlsims/status/1446301053037817873

“But the movie wouldn’t be what it is without Comer: the Emmy-winning Killing Eve actress takes what could have been a bland damsel role and makes her furiously, incandescently real.”

Barry’s Bites (Film & TV Critic):

#TheLastDuel – In typical Ridley Scott fashion, the time line, style, and characters exceeded expectations and conventionality. Fair warning, this one is not for the light hearted. It’s gritty and provocative. Jodie Comer put on an Oscar worthy performance.

    Tatiana Hullender (Entertainment Journalist):

I have a lot of questions about the choices made in #TheLastDuel, but I cannot deny the story itself is fascinating and Jodie Comer remains a versatile legend. It is a privilege to watch the results of her hard work every time.

    Thomas Manning (Film Critic):

I don’t think I would consider The Last Duel “enjoyable,” but the fact that an 80-year-old made a film this massive is just insane. Brilliant filmmaking. And major props to Jodie Comer’s performance — mostly subtle and under the surface acting, but such powerful screen presence.

David Crow (Entertainment Journalist and member of the Critics Choice):

After sleeping on it and liking The Last Duel more overnight, I realize that Jodie Comer should be a contender for Best Actress, yes, but Ben Affleck should get a Best Supporting Oscar nomination. I’m serious. His ridiculous performance shouldn’t work…and is wonderful for that.

Wow – #TheLastDuel has some of the best performances I’ve seen this year. Jodie Comer is extraordinary.

Bringing it here to stay on topic

she’s actually doing some promotion… (graham norton tonight, and jimmy fallon next week)

I’m aware I was just stating she hasn’t started her campaign yet because she physically can’t from filming. I see all these “oscar” movies going to every fyc possible and imo it wouldn’t hurt disney to try it lol as the very one they went to gave them a mixed response, why not find some variety to test the fake ampas crowd.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>They are probably waiting to see how it fares commercially first to go further with it. It would seem to be pretty DOA if at least they don’t get a “moderate hit” out of it.</p>
Also, Comer, Driver and Affleck are filming I think so they are probably sneaking some events into their schedules but they are not fully available at the moment.
