I really enjoyed The Last Jedi, even as I understand the problems people have with it as a sequel to TFA. I think Star Wars fans have a tendency to be quite rigid in what they think constitutes a ‘good’ Star Wars film and when it wasn’t what they expected, that rigidity led to large numbers of them just hating it.
For me, other than Canto Bight which could definitely have been trimmed, I think it’s great. And it has my two favourite performances in the franchise from Adam Driver and Mark Hamill. That confrontation between Luke and Kylo is just wonderful.

It does for sure in the first film, which makes sense since none of the actors except Alec Guinness believed in the film. In my opinion it got much better in Episode 5 and 6.

I guess we can agree to disagree. I do like Han Solo as a character.
Also, I’m pretty sure Alec Guinness hated A New Hope. Like, hated hated it.

I searched it up and you’re right: Guonness hated Episode 4. I thought for sure he was the one who defended Lucas on set, but I guess that was someone else.
Also he was right: Lucas’s dialogue is rubbish.

I felt like it tried to stand for something rather than just be a souless entertaining blockbuster. The way it took where the Force Awakens left off and introduced real stakes while paying incredible homage to Empire Strikes Back
