Telluride opener currently at 88% Rotten Tomatoes. Great reviews. Spacek evidently a standout performance. Seems like beautiful comfort food. What do you think of it’s oscar chances?September 1, 2018 at 12:13 am #1202621047
Given its gotten across the board good to great reviews so far is one hurdle crossed. The other two are box office and how all the other ‘Oscar bait’ films play out critically and commercially.September 1, 2018 at 2:02 am #1202621070
The narrative that this is Redford’s last film is being talked about, people will know and I think that will help him get nominated. Not sure if this gets anything else though.September 1, 2018 at 4:28 am #1202621103
There’s no clear front runner for supporting actress, My girl is getting raves and praise ( in Telluride ) and again with the narrative that this is Redford’s last film, of course they better give him a nomination after 23 years ????.September 1, 2018 at 4:29 am #1202621104
Could this be this year’s On Golden Pond Redford and Spacek.September 1, 2018 at 5:38 am #1202621113
I think this turns into a Redford-only vehicle, with a possibility of Picture.September 1, 2018 at 5:47 am #1202621116
I don’t think so, this film is not just Redford’s only vehicle. I think this will get more than best actor, considering Sissy Spacek is getting a lot of buzz after Telluride.September 1, 2018 at 6:06 am #1202621131
I would think Redford and Spacek at least show up at SAG.
THE OSCAR 100 (#5-1): Henry Fonda, Juanita Moore, Montgomery Clift, Celia Johnson and Gena RowlandsSeptember 1, 2018 at 10:43 am #1202621251
Three incredibly talented Oscar winners giving highly praised performances? Let’s go for that SAG ensemble nom!
jk the cast is too small and Hollywood today is too annoying to neutrally recognize acting brilliance but we can dreamSeptember 1, 2018 at 11:50 am #1202621282

So far I have this in Picture, Actor, SActress and Adapted Screenplay.September 2, 2018 at 3:55 am #1202621618
Competition in supporting actress is so fierce this year a nomination maybe a hurdle.September 2, 2018 at 4:07 am #1202621622
I haven’t even seen the film but I’m rooting for Robert Redford to get nominated as recognized of her under-appreciated (by the Oscars) acting career and as an apology nod for his snubbed All Is Lost performance.
