It would be great if Meryl Strepp and Daniel Day Lewis won their four Oscar on the same night.
The Oscar needs to get rid of the preferential ballot so it can name a deserving movie as Best Picture again.November 9, 2017 at 5:04 pm #1202406504This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.November 9, 2017 at 5:04 pm #1202406507
Great is not the word I would use.November 9, 2017 at 5:25 pm #1202406596
Neither would be my personal faves for sure, but you don’t think it would be cool in a history-making kind of way?
i thought u told everyone u want to vote in the most honest way for all the other award shows that you vote for, for what you arguably think is the best. What makes this any difference?November 9, 2017 at 8:05 pm #1202406835This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.November 10, 2017 at 12:37 am #1202406952
The King is wearing no clothes !
A movie about a political cover up of the unpopular long ago Vietnam War that has been covered twice before, with two bland, overrated actors and a famous Director well past his prime yaaaaaaaawn !
You can imagine the exact moment when Trump won the election and Spielberg in a hissy-fit, with drama queen theatrics, proclaimed ”we’re going to have to do another version of the Pentagon Papers” !
SORRY , but I’m not drinking the Koolaid ! Just watch the trailer with it’s pious tone and you’ve seen the movie….this is the type of politically correct movie that many will claim to have seen, but in reality few will venture into the dark recesses of a theatre to endure being patronised by self righteous liberal elites for two hours
This movie will be a box office flop…mark my words !November 10, 2017 at 1:44 am #1202406972

The trailer indeed portrays the film as old-school Spielbergian Oscar bait to the point where it almost turns into a parody of itself.
That said, a traditional offering like this might stand out in a favourable way in a year that otherwise seems to be full of rather unconventional fare. All signs point to The Post bettering Darkest Hour as this year’s version of Lincoln / Bridge of Spies / The Theory of Everything / The Imitation Game. Also, it’s topical in more ways than one.
As for Streep getting a fourth, I don’t think it’s likely to happen but I also wouldn’t rule it out like some here have – there’s no clear front runner in her category at this point and this looks like a pretty juicy vehicle for her.November 10, 2017 at 7:34 am #1202407191This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.November 10, 2017 at 8:54 am #1202407284
Why do so many people on this site have to try and trash everybody at every chance they get. Can some people please stop being so bitchy? So what some one contradicted something that they previously said. We all do it. Does it make you feel cool to try and expose others? Does it make you feel big and strong? And yes, I know that I am one of the bitches I am calling out. I am a hypocrite because I have done exactly what I am complaining about. Oh well.
No longer campaigning for Bitchiest Derbyite I see. Nothing wrong with character development. But while I applaud any new commitment to maintaining a pre-Eternal September decency, I feel that I see who you’re trying to call out, and asking for accountability and some semblance of consistency is a really low bar for an example of antagonism, especially on a site like this.
