Woody Allen- His decline started well over 20 years ago. Outside of Midnight in Paris and Blue Jasmine, he hasn’t made a good film in 20 years William Friedkin- The French Connection and The Exorcist are iconic masterpieces and then he made Mediocre to just downright awful films after those two Darren Aronofsky- started with Noah (2014) Jennifer Lawrence- Yes she’s young and can make a comeback, but she’s been on a wicked decline since 2015. She really needs Don’t Look Up to be a well reviewed film.

I agree that Friedkin never made a film on the level of The Exorcist or The French Connection again but I don’t think that the general consensus is that Sorcerer and To Live and Die in L.A. or even Killer Joe are mediocre films. But I do agree with your general statement that he declined.

Sylvester Stallone after Copland (1997) [51 years old].
It began his decline in popularity in the early 2000s.

He rebounded back to prominence thanks to the revival of the Rocky and Rambo franchises (respectively 2006 and 2008).

But what truly made him return to the ancient glories for a brief period of time was The Expendables trilogy franchise (2010-2014).

    Now he’s just washed up.

Lowe and Sheen at least managed to reinvent themselves as in television. The others though…

I’d also exclude Oscar nominee Mare Winningham from the Curse of the Brat Pack.

Stallone did have a significant career moment with “Creed.” Can’t overlook that.

Probably the biggest case is Zmeckis. Zmeckis killed his career with those CGIs animated movies. Those CGIs animated movies were too expensive and huge flops too

About Russell Crowe: what killed his career is that he got fat and old. Russell Crowe was The Modern Charlton Heston

Tom Cruise still is successful and he is, probably, the most famous star of all time. BUT his star declined. TOO Action movies killed his prime. Since 1981 until THE LAST SAMURAI, Tom Cruise worked with the greatest directors of all time. After THE LAST SAMURAI, Tom Cruise ONLY made action movies and that killed his prime

BHD and THE MARTIAN said no. Only in terms of money: PROMETHEUS and AMERICAN GANGSTER said no to you too

I hated Dunkirk and Tenet. Dunkirk was a success. Tenet was a huge flop because Tenet costed 425 million USD(225 Budget, 200 P&A).

I realized TOO many action movies killed most careers. John Travolta’s career died because he did TOO many action movies. Same story with Antonio Banderas but Pedro Almodovar SAVED HIM

Y’all on the Nic Cage slander … woah, woah, woah. Mandy was incredible. He was great in Color Out of Space, a surprisingly wonderful sci fi. Pig is one of his best performances. He’s still serving.
