No. Lol definitely not. You’re free to interpret the film that way, I just deeply disagree, I think that’s actually the whole point of the story leading up to the last third.

I’m sorry if I sound too harsh but your obsession with Dunst/Rose has affected your judgment so much that you can’t accept the basic facts about this movie.
at least go and check some reviews… all of them are praising BC and KSM as the most important actors/characters and almost 90% of them are raving about BC even in headlines. it’s only you and some other people who love KD that find her the highlight of movie.

Fresh after seeing Power of the Dog, great film, very captivating, pace may be slow but wasn’t bored at any point. Great cinematography and score. Whole cast was on point. Favourite performance: Cumberbatch.

Suprised how small Kirsten role felt.

I don’t think you understand the difference between interpretation and fact. Interpretations of what I said — a number of critics shared them too. Does that make Benedict a non-lead? No. Does that make his performance not worth the majority of raves? No. There is an ensemble for a reason, every character is there for very good reasons. Who you think the story is “about” doesn’t have to be restricted to one person. It’s 100% a career-best for him, he was incredible. Why can’t I believe multiple things are true at the same time? Again, interpretation. With this film, there’s many!

Not harsh, just ludicrous. Every single supporting character here was pivotal and the story was about them too. Just how I see the story.

I’m usually ambivalent about Campion’s work but she really got me with this one. Still giggling when I think about it lol.

    I just watched this

it is a very good movie but flawed enough for it not to be a masterpiece

    This is Benedict’s best performance

    I thought Smit-McPhee was ok

Dunst is barely in the movie, but she could get a coattail nod if the Academy likes the movie

    my prediction for nominations

    Best Picture

    Best Director

    Best Actor

    Best Cinematography

    Best Costume Design

    Best Score

    Best Art Direction

    Best Adapted Screenplay

What is this Dunst is barely in the movie stuff lol. Did we see different films? Plemons is barely in the movie, Dunst I’d say is in a good 2/3 of the film and won’t need a coattail, she’s great in it.

I guess I thought she would get more screen time

If  the movie is 2 hours she got like maybe 30 minutes of screen time

    maybe is the key word
