Though I do admit Plemons just did not have much to do and that’s okay since that’s how his character is suppose to serve the film’s crux! I think some people are possibly underwhelmed by his extremely subtle acting style? He has one of the most restrained acting styles in terms of male actors. A restrained performance is not necessarily a hindrance though since he exerts plenty of nuance in his eye movement and mannerisms. The mannerisms Plemons displays is most noticeable in his performance in particular the way he moves his body and reacts to each new event.

Regardless, Jesse Plemons is 2/2 playing a husband who has zero clue who his wife Kirsten Dunst even is LOL

Here’s the thing about the leak vs watching it on Netflix, although I respect people’s decision to wait for it to be released on Netflix, that is all fine and dandy. We are absolutely not taking any money out of anyone’s pocket by simply watching it earlier. The majority of people are still going to watch it again and again when it does finally release. This was going to be a streamer release at the end of the day. How many of us share passwords/logins when it comes to the multitude of the streamers that are available? I don’t know a single person who’s got Disney, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount, HBOMax etc all by their lonesome. Everyone is sharing. I don’t feel bad lol and I will watch it again when it does release on Netflix. Sorry not sorry!

I literally only watched the leak so trolls can’t spoil the film for me any more. After what Dave did, I had to watch the leak asap…

I mean I understand that completely but in todays age, unless your rich, who is paying for Prime, Hulu, Netflix, HBO etc all by their self? The mass of people are sharing, and these companies know this. If it’s a film that’s not being streamed and only releasing in theaters, I am going to pay to see it. But I just don’t think for one second that the majority of people aren’t sharing their logins. Many people are guilty of “not paying” to watch a streamer release.

I don’t really care about piracy—these are giant conglomerates we’re talking about, it’s fine & yes many people will see it on the streamer (and many won’t if they don’t wanna rewatch it). I do think people should probably watch it in a theater or a big screen.

For me it’s literally just like: I saw how beautiful the actual product was (albeit in a digital screening, not in a theater, and I WILL see this in a theater!) And vvvv honestly the leaked version looks good, but so many aspects are way worse: the score is actually… annoying in the leak, the whole thing is not the best quality. Little things like that do affect perception of the film. Honestly I can’t even see some of the subtle shifts in expression in the leak. I guess it’s a huge compliment if you like the leaked version then lol

TPOTD wins the Sebastiane award at the Sans Sebastian film festival. Announces Middleburg (closing night) & VIFF.

Powering towards the Oscars. Can it overcome the Netflix bias and win the whole thing?

There’s an awesome movie score suite on YouTube, not sure if it’s offical. Can’t wait for the Greenwood score to drop, it sounds like it’s going to be fantastic.

Watched this last week. It was formidable, Campion really made me intrigued the way through. Probably will rewatch once it’s on Netflix.

I agree, can’t wait for the score to come out.

Greenwood has 3 scores in contention, I hope he doesn’t cancel himself out

This utterly destroyed me. The unbearable level of sensual subtext in this movie. Scorching. No one could have done it better than Campion I’m convinced of that.

She weaves the small scale & large scales so well & Wegner needs to be the first female ever to win best cinematography

Honestly I think it will win Best Picture over “Belfast”. I don’t see any reasons why anybody would put it low in their preferential ballot.

Director + Adapted + one of the actors seems like a good combination for TPOTD to just win. It’s the frontrunner for both director and adapted currently. Cumerbatch lost his frontrunner status to Smith, but he can bounce back at any point especially with a boost from BAFTA. Dunst still seems to be top 2 in Supporting Actress as well.
