It’s funny because there are so many moments in it when it feels like it’s just going to turn into a gushing session about Dunst but because they both know she is so heavily associated with Sofia and now Jane, they sidestepped it. It’s a fun conv. Jane Campion is such a goofball lolol

So BIG HUGE FAT SPOILER AHEAD:

The kid poisons Phil? When did that happened? I get that it has something to do with that dead cow, but how?

Is it implied that they (the kid and Phil) fuck that last night? Is Phil gay or not?

Campion high on the likeable scale & very modest to boot, will really help her campaign.

On another note, 2 tracks from Greenwood’s score have been released. Awesome. Give me that golden guy please.

    Full soundtrack out Nov 17.

Can the spoiler be removed please? Why do people feel the need to post this stuff?

The two tracks are SO GORGEOUS. Is “West” is the motif they used for Rose? The score is a lot calmer and plaintive with her, though not more “innocent” which I love.

He’s a shoo-in to maybe win the BAFTA Breakthrough Performer award, and of course a Supporting Actor nod. If only this category didn’t weigh so heavily on veterans I’d feel comfortable predicting him to win, but there’s just so much uncertainty in the category.

Trailer was rumoured to be last week but hasn’t surfaced yet.

The best teaser of the year so can’t wait.

Yes West is the Rose scoring and it’s perfect. Both tracks are exceptional. This is Greenwood’s year with 3 big scores. As long as he doesn’t vote-split.

Smit-McPhee doing a Q & A at SCAD film festival. Getting plenty of exposure to shore up his support in the supporting race.

TPOTD is showcasing the stars well in addition to Campion, Wegner & Greenwood.

Goddam I finally read the closest interpretation of the story on Reddit to mine, and it’s so bloody good & I’m so happy I’m not nuts LOL. I don’t agree with the last part because I don’t think **** actually did figure it together by the end but she will…

Anyway, pasting it here if of interest. IT’S COMPLETELY SPOILER-Y, so do not read if you do not want to be spoiled. https://www.reddit.com/r/oscarrace/comments/pn2hn0/comment/hcs3les/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Also, no, he did not know how to braid as the Reddit post above suggests, but…almost everything else.

Thanks for this, there were a few things I failed to connect on my first watch so this analysis helped. Reading some reviews or reactions on LB and Twitter it’s funny how most people don’t realize how cunning and sinister Peter is. It’s right there staring them in the face but they are too busy focusing on the obvious bad boy, Phil.

Yeah, totally. I mean… he’s growing up to be far more than what he is at the end if you know what I mean….

But I also don’t think the book or movie intend to show that he’s a worse kind of masculinity or something. It’s a totally valid interpretation, and if that’s what someone takes away, great! I don’t feel that way really. His father killed himself, and he found him… there is lots of trauma obviously.

And this isn’t in the movie so much but his love for his mother is more than a little twisted. In far too many ways he’s just like the other men in his dismissal of her, a kind of condescending protectiveness, and also he literally doesn’t listen to a single thing she says! If you remember Rose’s monologue, there’s this point where he says “because you’re b********” and Rose raises her eyebrows because, like, I don’t think she actually cares so much about THAT.

It’s just crossed wires all the way down you know? Thomas Savage is a genius though. Peter is a stand-in for him, Rose a stand-in for his mother, and in his own weird way he’s written himself like the devil and her like the freaking Virgin Mary lol
