I always think it is interesting to see peoples reaction to a movie. I saw it for a third and fourth time with friends and family.
They got very angry with George and wondered howcome he doesn’t stand up to his brother and defend his wife?

Some people quitted the film after half an hour some thought it was odd and others thought it was a masterpiece.
I think the film will have a hard time on a preferentiel ballot unless it sweeps the industy prices.

    FYC:
Best Picture: Licorice Pizza, West Side Story, Dune.

    Best Director: PTA, Denis Villeneuve

    Best Original Screenplay: Licorice Pizza.

Thought this was just fantastic, maybe the best movie I’ve seen this year so far. I’m rooting for Cumberbatch to win the Oscar. This is so different from anything we’ve seen from him before, but he was just phenomenal. Dunst gives one of her best performances, and while I do think I prefer Negga just a little bit more, I’d be absolutely thrilled to see Kirsten pick up a well-deserved win. Smit-McPhee was amazing too, with a really wonderful subtleness that balanced out Cumberbatch and Dunst’s “larger” performances. Campion’s work here is just awesome. Even though this isn’t the kind of movie I’m usually compelled to rewatch, I already want to revisit it to better understand everything that’s bubbling just below the surface. I’m very, very impressed!

Jesse Plemons having only three minutes less than Kirsten and Kodi is…surprising. I really thought he had way less screentime.

The vast majority of his screentime is in the first half of the movie, so it means it’s less fresh in the mind.

Exactly, also I thought Kodi had at least a little more than Kirsten, I was very surprised by this.

I have so much in my head that I want to put down on paper about “The Power of the Dog” but I fail every time I start to write my thoughts. So, for now, I’ll simply say “The Power of the Dog” is by far the best movie I have seen in a few years. And that I’m most certain of. Standing ovations to Campion, Cumberbatch, Dunst, Smit-McPhee and Plemons. I’m still standing and clapping…

Add Ari Wagner to that, but you’re 100% correct!! I’m still thinking about it, this film consumes me.

Babes, don’t focus on PETA. Focus on the critics rejecting it from their top 10, top 5 etc. Did a critics choice just give it to a Foreign Film over Dog?

First off, why are you saying that like it’s some embarrassing dishonor to lose to a (very good) foreign film?

Second of all, they awarded KSM, Cumberbatch and Campion, so it’s not the sick burn you think it is.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>Just saw this movie and I think it’s a sold 9/10. My only problem with this movie is that Broncho Henry is a signficant character in Phils life but they barely mention him. You could totally take a shot of vodka every time they mention Broncho Henry and you’d be perfectly ok. I’d actually recommend doing so.</p>

Expected a slog but was rather entertained throughout. Only Cumberbatch, Dunst and KSM had the material. Plemons is not happening. Was shocked to recognize McKenzie in a nothing of a background role. I was, like, it can’t be her? But it was.

Thought this had 3 amazing scenes and 1 embarrassingly bad, but was overall pretty OK. Relied too heavily on beautiful landscape shots every 2 min.

    SPOILERS

Banjo vs piano was magnificent. best scene in the movie, one of the best of the year.

Booze vs whistle. Another great one. Both were big showcase for Dunst.

KMS simultaniously poisons and kinda seduces Cumberbatch. Great showcase for both.

KMS finds gay porn magazines – ****ing terrible! WTF? The movie did a great job informing us that Cumberbatch was closet gay and KMS was smart enough to pick up on that. Why ruin it with such in your face evidence? Like I said, KMS was smart af hence how he pulled off a murder that looked like a death from illness. He didn’t need to see gay magazines to figure out what the deal was with Cumberbatch.

Thought that Cumby’s best scene was reaction to sounds coming from the bathroom and Plemons/Dunst room.

    Yeah, I liked this.

Not gonna lie, that made me cringe and laugh too. Very unnecessary and obviously that was not in the book. AND YET people still somehow don’t get it. They’re like “he was gay and wanted Peter???”
