It’ll be absolutely embarrassing and shameful for the Academy if Jane Campion loses the Oscar for Best Director.
No it wouldn’t. There are more deserving candidates than her who had a bigger challenge making their films, especially Villeneuve for Dune who adapted a novel considered unadaptable. Jane Campion is not the only deserving candidate. Villeneuve, Branagh, Spielberg and Heder are equally deserving.
For Your Consideration
The Lost Daughter - Olivia Colman, Jessie Buckley
Cruella- Costumes and Makeup
Licorice Pizza - Screenplay

January 29, 2022 at 4:10 am #1204757816I’m going to pretend I didn’t see someone say Sian Heder would be just as deserving of the Directing Oscar as Jane Campion. The things one has to read on GD. 💀

January 29, 2022 at 4:59 am #1204757863While I agree that Jane Campion is much more deserving than Sian Heder but calling someone else’s opinion dumb just because they don’t agree with you on a subjective piece of art is unfortunate.

February 8, 2022 at 6:37 am #1204787092Hard to believe it got 12. It got literally everything it could have including 2 supporting actor slots. And glad that the terrific production design got recognised.
and all it’s competition stumbled- Dune missed Director, Belfast missed editing & cinematography, WSS missed editing.
