I prefer my roses whiteMay 3, 2022 at 8:54 am #1204940791Well, since some time has passed I can admit now that I LOVED TPOTD. The cin, score, sp, perfs, even the direction. Although, I didn’t find it particularly deep nor emotionally satisfying.
NO WAY I was going to say that while a core group of others were claiming that if we didn’t care for it that meant we’re STOOPID and too vapid to see how freaking layered and “deep” it is.

I prefer my roses whiteMay 3, 2022 at 3:51 pm #1204941181I think netflix just hasn’t figure out the right way to campaign yet. They keep having early frontrunners (Chicago 7, TPOTD, The Irishman, Roma), and then they just can’t keep the momentum going and get overshadowed by a movie that plays better on people’s emotions.
I also think they’re making a mistake by putting all their eggs in the basket of these big established filmmakers, which takes away from that feeling of discovery or excitement that can help a movie. In the past FIFTEEN years, since No Country For Old Men in 2007, ONLY ONE movie from a director with a previous Best Picture nomination has won Best Picture (Birdman in 2014). They should take more risks with acquisitions (like apple did with Coda, cough cough) rather than expecting oscar annointed film makers to get them the gold.

Lol. If anything this gross website Goldderby has become an echo chamber of disgusting anti-Netflix and Pro-HARVEY WEINSTEIN sentiments.

~Currently watching Abbott ElementaryMay 5, 2022 at 3:04 am #1204942627After a couple of months since I’ve watched TPOTD, I have to say it left me a long lasting good impression. There was something in the cinematography and score that still lights up something in my memory when I think about it. I was honestly surprised by the ending, I love the delicateness of it. I think of it as a quiet movie, but not boring at all. The only thing that maybe ‘went wrong’ was that it was too similar to the previous winner Nomadland in its winning qualities. Someone else on GD pointed out how the Academy loves to award the opposite of the year before, and I think it’s a valid interpretation of what happened.

That’s how you spread the message. What’s ironic about it. It’s good when people see it straight from the website itself. To boycott it.
