From what I read (about 25 reviews), Jo Ellen Pellman is the MVP. Meryl is not receiving as many praise as I thought she would, but so far no one said she was a bad. Nicole is being praised.

ReplyCopy URLNovember 29, 2020 at 3:19 pm #1203882917So, I’ve read people saying they love it and people saying they didn’t like it and that Murphy’s direction is horrid, however I’ve seen praise for the actors, even tho Meryl hasn’t been given THAT much praise, almost everyone is saying kidman was great in her little role
ReplyCopy URLNovember 29, 2020 at 3:23 pm #1203882932The only criticism I have seen is that people say “it’s too Glee” but I liked that show anyway so on a personal note this looks good.
Corden isn’t getting great reviews though (as expected) although I still think he’s getting in at the Globes lol.
Kidman could very well happen at the Oscars. I’m not joking.

ReplyCopy URLNovember 29, 2020 at 4:31 pm #1203883166I think I might predict this to be the first time since The River Wild that Meryl hits SAG and Globe but not Oscar.

Might be worth mentioning she is also competing against herself for Let Them All Talk which HBO Max is putting all their money in campaigning for.
She could very well split with herself.

November 29, 2020 at 4:43 pm #1203883202Man, I really needed this. We needed a good Broadway musical film adaptation after Cats gave the genre such a bad name.

It already has. Anne Thompson at indie wire has posted her review already.

The tea is that Meryl is very good in that. If I’m not mistaken Pete Hammond has seen it and said watch out for Candice Bergen so I’m expecting it might be a big acting player but nothing else.
I guess we shall wait and see what happens with the reviews for that one but if both gain traction I think this year is too competitive for her to overcome cancelling herself out.

Not when he’s getting attacked in the reviews for dragging the film down lol.
