Just watched it and though it was good.

Le Streep was great (as she always is) and is actually worthy of a nomination. The “she owes me a house scene” sent me πŸ’€ Kidman was glorious and stole every scene she was in. Very worthy of a supporting nod. DeBose and Pellman both did an amazing job.

    My feelings on Corden: πŸ“‰πŸ“ˆπŸ“‰πŸ“ˆπŸ“‰

There were moments were I was like ok maybe he ain’t that bad but then next scene I would be like go away plsss and that’s mostly on his singing lmfao.

I enjoyed the songs though there weren’t really that memorable. The cast was strong. Overall I enjoyed it mostly because of the performances (not Corden chile).

Just watched it myself as well. Like many others, there were some good parts and some bad. Murphy’s direction wasn’t as bad as other projects by him. It was fine, and actual a bit too flat at times. I think casting was definitely a problem. Corden is an obvious focus of this. Sometimes he was just bad and unengaged. It led to the ending feeling forced and fake. Nicole Kidman and Kerry Washington either needed more to do, or have lesser names in these roles. When you have the 2 of them, you have expectations. But, due to the size of their roles, those expectations weren’t met. However, in their brief moments, they were quite good. Rannels and Key were quite good in their supporting roles. I thought Rannels had the good balance of humor and sass. Pellman was good as the heart of the story and DeBose was strong as the conflicted character. Streep was very good. People forget how funny she can be when she’s able to let loose with a role. The songs are fine (the new ones, meh) and very hummable. The script could have been stronger. I think everything felt so rushed trying to fit everything from a 2.5 hour stage production into 2 hours. I think some of the conflicts could have been played up more. Overall though, a solid entertaining film, but with a few tweaks, could have been much more.
