A prequel to what remains the greatest television series ever is forthcoming.

I’m looking forward to it. But with Chase’s other film efforts coming up meh I’m not super excited. I would love for Falco to be included. Of course, she wouldn’t be playing Carmela. I just can’t help but look at McDormand’s and Janney’s Oscar success and think she could have knocked either of those roles out the ballpark. She deserves her chance to shine on the “big screen”. And I hope Chase doesn’t forget the show’s dark humor and one-liners.

Both McDormand and Janney already knocked their roles out of the ballpark spectacularly, though I agree with your basic sentiment about Edie Falco being underused. She surely deserves better than that nightmare wig from that “Menendez Murders” miniseries she was in. I was hoping when I saw the title thread this would be a tv series prequel instead of a movie, like Better Call Saul. I have still never seen an episode of Breaking Bad, but I’m currently watching and mostly loving BSC so I can directly go right into its iconic predecessor in chronological order. I hope the film is good and I do believe the film wouldn’t be getting made unless David Chase felt REALLY passionate about it, considering the tragic death of star James Gandolfini. Having never seen an episode of The Sopranos, I’m going to go into this film a blank slate, which I think will likely be for the better.

For your Goldderby Film Awards consideration: Isle of Dogs for every category, especially Music Score for Alexandre Desplat!

I wasn’t trying to undermine those performances, just highlighting that there many good roles and performances I see that would suit her. It seems her dedication to working in the Tri-State area only has held her back to some degree.

The movie probably won’t be out for a couple years, plenty of time to catch up with the series.
