It’s been 2 days since the Oscars and I’m trying to move on and divert myself into something else. I guess the Academy has changed now. #noMoreVeterans.

I don’t think the acting branch failed Glenn. I think the British voters screwed her over.

Hence the suggestions to get a British backed film.

This legit was one of the biggest upsets in history. Not giving her any precursor award or even not nominating her for anything would have made more sense. She went into that ceremony having bagged Drama GG, CC and SAG which is nothing less than a deadly combo, only to lose again. I don’t even know what to say. This must have been such an exhausting experience for her

I don’t even know if she’ll have the strength to try a 8th time like Page and Pacino

But I just can’t fathom the idea of her dying oscarless so I hope that she’ll be willing to play that dirty game (which she played like a pro this year) one last time.

There’s a higher international pool now. I think making something like 33 Variations and having it produced in England and introduced there might help. (The role is non threatening and very baity since the character is dying of ALS.) Cast a Brit in the male role and in the younger female role. It’s by Moises Kaufman who’s a really respected playwright so he could foreseeably adapt it. I loved the play but think it would be amazing as a film.

If Glenn get nominated for the 8th time I think it would be better if she’s not going to win precursors or likely never to campaign again. My opinion, better to be Oscarless. I know she’s exhausted and sick that she had been played.

The person who campaigned the least won. There’s your strategy. She makes a British backed film and does minimal campaigning.

Some were discussing sexism in Hollywood. ( In an era of sensitive topic #MeToo movement)

Screenwriter Anderson ( The Wife) revealed the struggles of making the film. It took 14 years. She said, male executives did not want to make the film with a female protagonist, pointing out the script is about man-hating. They were able to find a Swedish director and 𝐜𝐨𝐦pany/producers to finance it.

I guess that upset some of Oscar voters and cost Glenn Oscar gold. It’s her finest perfromance.

Some people were like saying Glenn needs to go back to roles were she is not boring, interesting, antagonist, villain. She has done that twice in an Oscar worthy performance in Fatal Attraction + Danergous liason ( she peeled off those layers of emotion+ gradually changes her expression+ emotional outburst ), still unable to bag those trophies. Because the movie is tragic/killing…

They won’t give her the Oscar. PERIOD

She needs to portray a more sympathetic character for MEN.

I really wonder if she’s gonna try one last time or just give up altogether. Idc what anyone says, being considered as the biggest loser  of your profession is a disgusting burden to carry and she certainly does not deserve this

I think she’ll keep making films and see if she can catch a break.

Colman isn’t supporting in The Favourite so I’m glad they went with lead for her. Stone should have been in lead too but I feel like things worked out fine the way they were.

Pacino scored his 7th and 8th at the same time if I recall well.

The Favourite = The Hours in terms of category placements, two of the most egregious frauds both starring three women (for the record I do think Ali in Green Book is totally supporting).

So now British voters are to blame, as they only ever vote for British actors? Who was the last Brit to win Best Actress? I can’t remember any this decade…

There’s more of them in the voter pool than previously (the international pool as a whole is larger). I looked at a chart and it’s intersting how British men usually fare better than women. Kate Winslet was the last British woman in leading actress to win. In supporting there were others.

Overall though as I mentioned the international voters comprise a higher percentage and there are more British voters in various categories.
