    This can raise the fun of this season, if you get spanish humor.

    Does Hollywood really think Antonio Banderas is Black? A clarification if necessary: Spain is in Europe, just below France.

    Here spanish TV news asking fellowmen if they think Banderas is black, white or whatever. Hilarious, fellowmen talking about how good is to take some sun of the Mediterranean sea. Seriously, this has been a subject of discussion in Hollywood… really? Does really matter how much melatonin has or not? Why everybody has to be classified within a racist group if he/she’s not like the milk? We are all of color after all, there is no one transparent. So that “of color” is a fallacy in itself anyway.

    Better to have some humor about it. The first interviewed says: if you come to Malaga in August… we are all black.

    I was just about to post the same thing. There is very little suspence or from excitement as it seems like the acting races are all locked up

    Usually 3 of the 4 acting races are all 100% locked up. Unless Driver wins at SAG then Phoenix is a lock to win. Renee might not win SAG but unless one of the Oscar nominated Women win it then she will win the Oscar if she prevails at BAFTA. If Dern wins SAG she is locked to win the Oscar and the same goes for Pitt.

    They’re all 100% locked all the way to the Oscars except for Dern who could lose at BAFTA to Pugh but that’s about it.

    The season is boring as hell but this was one of the best film years in quite a while.

    The Best Picture lineup is pretty good overall actually. You should give it a try.

    Darling, yes this race is boring. Yes, the nominees are mostly rubbish. But yes, it’s still better than other years. The acting categories are locked, disgustingly. And the winners are going to be 4 undeserved victories that Thatcher predicted since the beginning but who cares.

    The Oscars don’t have the same prestige anymore, especially in the acting categories. I mean, nothing performances keep winning all the time (and even Razzie-worthy ones, like Animatronic last year). This year we’re having as dildo winners a communist disabled clown, a Judy Garland with Parkinson in her face, a stunt double whose best scene is taking his shirt off and a cheap and autopilot Renata Klein impersonation.

    Thatcher cannot. Thatcher is exhausted. Thatcher is DISGUSTED.

    As a famous singer said, "ain't nobody gonna Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher!"

    The best picture line up os very good in my opinion but those other categories… completely took me out of the season. I honestly do not care who wins in any other category. 1917 should win Picture and Director.

    The only categories I pay much attention to:
    * Best Picture
    * Best Director
    * Best Foreign Film
    * Best Animated Feature

    Best Director is often tied firmly to Best Picture. Best Foreign film gives me some movie titles which might not have any visibility with me. Best Animated is similar as I don’t pay any attention to the Disney/Pixar nominees. With few exceptions, the Disney/Pixar animations have been formulaic for a long time. This time we see their two of the five are sequels and retreads. You gotta be kidding me. Could have been worse. Frozen II might have been nominated, after I got sick of seeing all the Frozen II branded food in the grocery store to the point of wanting to retch. The Laika stop motion, Missing Link, might have slipped under my radar for a while if it hadn’t been nominated. They make some very original and excellent animations. I keep hoping a film like the Hungarian Ruben Brandt, Collector will get nominated, a very original and entertaining film that should have been last year – along with Anderson’s Isle of Dogs. Loving Vincent the year before was a breath of fresh air.

    The Best Picture crop this year is better than last year’s with 1917, Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time, and Scorsese’s The Irishman. I’m ambivalent about Jojo Rabbit as parts of its comedic treatment of the subject material don’t sit well with me. Joker won’t win but it’s still a very good movie. Parasite will win Best Foreign Feature, just as Roma did last year, as have all the other foreign films nominated for both in the past. Other than that movie, last year’s eight nominees were a weak field. Not surprised Green Book won. Bohemian Rhapsody was a good effort about Freddy Mercury but could have been better. I wouldn’t call this year boring, not when compared to last year.
