I would like to create a thread where we pick films and discuss our thoughts on the film. I’ll start!

What are your thoughts on ‘Bridge of Spies’ (Spielberg)?

For me, it is one of Spielberg’s best films. The story, direction, acting, and cinematography was all perfect if you ask me. I think Mark Rylance truly deserved his Oscar.

Tell me your thoughts on ‘Bridge of Spies’ and pick the next movie.

Sorry. Too boring to me. I saw an old movie today: Minority Report(2001). Great movie. In my honest opinion it is One of Spielberg’s finest movies. Very realistic. In the next 4-8 years, we could be living in Minority Report in real life

Brilliant movie, probably my favorite Spielberg along with Schindler’s List. Cruise and Morton are at the top of their game here. I also love the visual presentation although it’s not a pleasantly-looking movie per se. The editing and cinematography are top notch, and I enjoy the philosophical questions presented through the science fiction aspects very much. What about A Ghost Story (2017)? That one blew me away when I first saw it.

    For Your Consideration:
The Banshees of Inisherin in ALL categories, including:
    - Best Picture
    - Best Director
    - Best Actor (Colin Farrell)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson)
    - Best Supporting Actor (Barry Keoghan)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon)
    - Best Supporting Actress (Sheila Flitton)
    - Best Original Screenplay

The new Spielberg films are so boring these days, so i don´t know if i gonna watch Bridge of Spies but i agree Mark Rylance is an incredible actor, is not a movie but he was at the top of his game in this mini series called Wolf Hall.

I gave it a solid 4 stars. but now for the life of me i can’t remember what happened. I remember a fantastic soundtrack, Rooney Mara eating a whole vegan pie, and Casey Affleck covered in bed sheet?

do you guys like Frances Ha? I thought that was both Baumbach and Gerwig best work.

I don’t understand why Spielberg keeps making these boring movies. Like the craft in them are obviously top notch but the stories are so inconsequential and dull. Dude could make whatever movie he wants and he decides to make The Post? Then that War Horse movie and Bridge of Spies mentioned here. Even The BFG was most boring blockbuster of the last 10 years. Only worthwhile thing he’s done since The Terminal is Tintin and Ready Player One. Atleast West Side Story looks exciting even though its a remake.

Opinion on Bridge of Spies: It was a good movie (not worthy of a Best Picture nomination) but not one of top tier Spielberg movies. Nonetheless Rylance was the best thing about it and he deserved the Oscar. Hanks was nice and the screenplay was very good. It just wasn’t something worth a rewatch.

    The Reader:
A film made for the Academy, but not bad. I thought Kate Winslet did a beautiful job. I can see why she won an Oscar for it.

    Next film:
    Charlie’s Angels (2000)

I actually enjoyed The Reader. It was a handsome, well made film. David Kross is such an eye candy *_*

Btw Kate Winslet is marvelous in a heartbreaking performance.

Speaking about the 2009 best picture lineup, I would’ve swapped this in favor of Wall-E.

    FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
    Tang Wei, Decision To Leave
    Rebecca Hall, Resurrection

James Hong & Jamie Lee Curtis, Everything Everywhere All At Once

Charlies Angels has its flaws but its much better than the 2019 remake. Campy summer fun which is good for what its worth

I too personally liked it a lot. I thought the screenplay and the theme of guilt were well illustrated although the film actually picks up major steam in the second half. I wish Kross was nominated for Supporting Actor. I consider Kate’s performance in the movie worthy of an Oscar (I would have been happier to see her win for Revolutionary Road) and she effectively shows the inner conflict of Hanna.
And yes,she was the LEAD, not supporting (I’m looking at you Golden Globes, Critics Choice and SAG)
